Assistant Professor in Brain Machine Interface (Ref. 260724013)

The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) is one of the five academic departments in the Faculty of Engineering, and it offers a full spectrum of BME programmes, from BSc, MSc to PhD. The team is the first group to offer Biomedical Engineering related undergraduate programme in Hong Kong, and has made great achievements in BME education, innovative research, and technology transfer. Currently BME has six thematic research areas, including Biomedical Imaging, Sensing, AI and Wearable Technology, Brain-Machine Interface and Neural Engineering, Molecular/Cellular Engineering and Biomaterials, Precision Diagnostics and Therapy, Prosthetics-Orthotics, Smart Ageing and Rehabilitation Engineering, and Sports Science and Technology. It aims to conduct cutting-edge research in these areas and nurture future leaders in prosthetics and orthotics, clinical engineering, medical instrumentation and sensors, and biological engineering by imparting interdisciplinary knowledge, innovative ideas, critical thinking and practical skills. Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and contribute to programme and curriculum development;

(b) initiate innovative research projects that leads to publications in top-tier refereed journals and awards of external research grants;

(c) supervise student projects and theses;

(d) engage in industrial and scholarly research/consultancy activities;

(e) undertake academic and departmental administrative duties; and

(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.

Qualifications 

Applicants should have:

(a) a PhD degree in relevant disciplines;

(b) strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research;

(c) published world-leading research as a main author;

(d) good networking ability; and

(e) excellent communication skills and the ability to use English as the medium of instruction.

About the Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering (CBS)

The Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering Department (CBS) is a component of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). The main objective of CBS is to set up a distinctive research-teaching program, of international level, to meet the research and teaching challenges of UM6P, on green and environmental chemistry applied to all aspects of chemical sciences: organic and inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical biology, biochemical and thermal reactions.

Research at CBS is organized around several major areas, which aim to answer challenging industrial questions, from complex chemical and biochemical reactions to scale-up and validation of process engineering. CBS projects aim at an in-depth understanding of the molecular mechanisms of all transformations to propose new original alternatives in terms of efficiency, environmental friendliness, and sustainability.

Job Description

The CBS department at UM6P is seeking a highly motivated and qualified researcher for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in Inorganic Chemistry. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to advancing the department's research initiatives and supporting mission of research excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:


	Design and conduct research projects in inorganic chemistry, focusing on areas such as in inorganic chemistry, materials synthesis, or catalysis.​
	Synthesize and characterize inorganic compounds or materials using techniques such as X-ray diffraction, NMR spectroscopy, and electron microscopy.​
	Analyse experimental data, interpret results, and contribute to the development of new hypotheses and research directions.​
	Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present research findings at national and international conferences.​
	Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams within the department and with external partners to enhance research outcomes.​


Candidate Criteria


	PhD degree in Chemistry, with a specialization in inorganic chemistry or a closely related area, is required.
	Research Excellence: A strong track record of high-quality research demonstrated through publications in reputable international journals.
	Collaborative Mindset: Proven ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and external partners to address complex challenges.

The Opportunity

You will coordinate and implement marketing and communications initiatives that build the profile, reputation and impact of NICM Health Research Institute. Working across media, digital, social media, website, newsletter and promotional channels, you will translate complex health and scientific research into accurate, accessible content for specialist and non-specialist audiences.

You will work closely with researchers, Institute leadership, industry partners, donors, students and the University’s central Marketing and Media & PR teams.
