About Us The Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) plays a central role in shaping the quality, innovation and impact of education at the University of East London. Working as part of the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Education and Experience, CELT partners with Schools, professional services and sector organisations to enhance teaching, learning and assessment across the University. CELT brings together academic development, learning technology and educational innovation to support curriculum transformation and inclusive educational practice. The team works closely with academic colleagues to design and implement evidence informed approaches to teaching and assessment, while also supporting staff development, digital capability and the effective use of learning technologies. About the Job We are seeking a talented and forward-thinking learning technology professional to join CELT as a Learning Technology Advisor. This is a central role providing professional support and guidance for learning technology across the University. Working closely with the Senior Learning Technology Advisor, you will support and facilitate learning technology activity aligned with institutional priorities in curriculum transformation, digital education and technology enhanced active learning. The role is the first point of contact with academics with operational guidance and contributing to technology projects and initiatives. You will act as an important link between CELT, Schools and IT Services, ensuring that learning technologies are implemented in ways that are pedagogically grounded, inclusive and sustainable. Key aspects of the role include: Delivering targeted training and front line assistance to academic and professional staff to support the integration of core TEL systems, staff development, guidance and resources relating to digital education and technology enhanced learning. Contributing to technology enhanced learning initiatives and projects that support curriculum innovation and digital education across the University. Providing advice on the pedagogically effective use of learning technologies including the virtual learning environment, Generative AI tools, collaboration tools and emerging technologies. Working closely with Schools, CELT colleagues and IT Services to support the implementation and development of learning technologies. Contribute to planning, evaluation and continuous improvement relating to digital education and learning technology. About You You will bring experience of designing, implementing and supporting technology enhanced learning within higher education or a comparable environment. You will have an understanding of how digital tools and platforms can support effective, inclusive and engaging approaches to teaching, learning and assessment. You will be confident working with academic colleagues, professional services teams and stakeholders, providing expert advice and helping to translate pedagogic needs into effective digital solutions. You will also have experience of working on projects or initiatives related to digital education and supporting colleagues to develop their digital teaching practice. As a member of the CELT team, you will demonstrate your knowledge and experience in using learning technology, including supporting collaborative ways of working across teams. You will ensure that learning technologies are implemented in ways that are pedagogically sound, accessible and aligned with institutional priorities. We are looking to recruit a number of highly motivated postdoctoral fellows, PhD students, a lab technician and a research officer to join the international lab of Professor Khuloud Al-Jamal, a Chair of Drug Delivery and Nanomedicine. The aim of our lab is to use nanotechnology to better understand, diagnose and treat diseases with particular interests in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. We are a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary lab eager to create an impact on people’s lives taking research a step beyond the lab. Research projects we are looking to pursue are in the areas of extracellular vesicles & cell therapy, immunotherapy, nucleic acids therapeutics for brain cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Duties and Responsibilities: Design and develop small molecules, nucleic acids and peptide therapeutics. Design, prepare and characterize nanoparticles. Employ state-of-the-art techniques to assess the physicochemical properties of nanoparticles, ensuring their stability, drug release kinetics, encapsulation efficiency and electron microscopy imaging. Integrate innovative approaches to enhance the specificity and efficiency of advanced therapeutics, with a particular emphasis on addressing challenges related to tissue penetration and targeted delivery. Conduct cell culture studies using cell lines, primary cultures and/or patients' tissues for efficacy evaluation. Conduct in vivo studies, including administration of nanoparticles, monitoring fate, therapeutic response, and assessing the impact on disease progression. Develop relevant disease models to assess therapeutic efficacy of a specific treatment. Demonstrate understanding of the disease pathology for better design of advanced therapeutics. Coordinate with clinical collaborators to obtain ethical approvals and obtaining human tissue samples for subsequent studies. Engage in collaborative projects both internally and externally. Periodically report progress to PI, co-investigators, project collaborators, and project funder. Initiate and contribute to grant writing activities. Write study-specific procedures for analytical methods, protocols, and reports and provide training on processes and equipment. Supervise and co-supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students. Requirements: Education and Expertise: Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Data Science or related fields. Post-doctorate experience preferred. Proven track record in conducting high-quality biological or chemical research. Demonstrated history of writing reports and scientific articles based on research results. Hands-on experience in advanced cell culture techniques and in vivo models. Experience in bioconjugations. Desirable Skills: Highly desirable skills include various in-vivo tracking modalities and imaging techniques for monitoring drug delivery dynamics.
