Department: First Department of Surgery – Faculty of Medicine Deadline: 5 Apr 2026 Start date: Upon agreement Job type: full-time Job field: Science and research | Education and schooling Director of the St. Anne's University Hospital in Brno and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University announces a selection procedure for the position: Head of the Second Department of Surgery The Second Department of Surgery is a therapeutic, educational and research clinic of the St. Anne's University Hospital in Brno and the Faculty of Medicine of MU. It is a highly specialized workplace on the issue of vascular diseases. The main activities are vascular-surgical programs. In cooperation with interventional radiologists and angiologists, the clinic provides comprehensive care for vascular patients, including 24-hour permanent service for acute vascular events within the region and supraregionally. As an accredited workplace, it provides undergraduate and postgraduate education in vascular surgery, is involved in scientific research activities and participates in the solution of international randomized multicenter studies. II. The surgical clinic is a part of the Complex Cardiovascular Center and the Cerebrovascular Center established by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. The Department Head position candidate must be a respected expert in the field of surgery, with experience of working in a given area and with expertise in pre-graduate and postgraduate education. The Head of the department will be responsible for the management of the clinic, undergraduate medical education, doctoral studies, publishing and coordination of research conducted at the clinic. The Candidate for Department Head will present his/her idea of fulfilling the above during the selection process. EETC aspires to promote and develop energy efficiency capability and new technologies in the local energy ecosystem for industrial sectors. Key Responsibilities Work with EETC team members and companies on energy assessment projects in industrial systems Assist and/or co-develop training in energy efficiency in industrial systems to adult learners and students Mentor students in energy assessment projects to enhance their technical problem-solving skills. The learning activities may be classroom training, laboratory classes, projects. Development of learning activities / materials and assessment of students may form part of the responsibilities. Support research and industrial project work undertaken by the university, where opportunity arises. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure smooth execution of the energy audits. For those hired at senior levels, management responsibilities may be included. Manage and administer training programmes at the Centre.  Job Requirements Have hands-on experience in energy assessments and energy efficiency projects in some of the following areas: Industrial systems such as: Chilled Water System, Cooling and Refrigeration System, Mechanical Ventilation System, Heating system, Process Separation, Process Heat Integration, Process Compressor System, Steam and Condensate System, Compressed Air System, Motor Driven System, Power Distribution System and Electric Motors, Lighting System, Renewable Energy System, Process Specific system etc. Have a Degree in Engineering or equivalent. Have at least 5 years of project work experience in energy efficiency. Certified Energy Efficiency Opportunity Assessor or Singapore Certified Energy Manager will be advantageous. Licensed LEW (Technician grade or higher) will be advantageous for one of the positions. *Note: The incumbent will be appointed as Research Fellow / Research Engineer if successful.

Novel dispersive photonic devices are opening incredible possibilities for efficient lasers and light manipulation. We’re looking for two passionate PhD students to join a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action doctoral training network–Training & Research in Advanced Dispersion Engineered grating-waveguide Structures (TRADES)–and push the boundaries of what’s possible with nanofabrication technology.  Nanofabrication covers ground-breaking techniques to structure materials at dimensions smaller than the wavelength of visible light, enabling new light-matter interactions via a metasurface structure coupled to a waveguide, often called Grating Waveguide Structures (GWS). By advancing our understanding and development of scalable nanofabrication processes on a crystalline platform, you’ll be at the forefront of creating the next generation of advanced optical components enabling novel laser systems for future photonics applications. What You’ll Do: Innovate: develop scalable nanofabrication processes to fabricate novel dispersive grating waveguide structures Collaborate: work with a dynamic team and engage in interdisciplinary research Experiment: gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge cleanroom and physical-vapour-deposition fabrication techniques, lasers, and honing your practical skills Explore: help develop a deeper understanding of high-fidelity GWS fabrication across dimensional scales differing by 1-million times. We’re seeking two enthusiastic and capable doctoral candidates who are eager to dive into cleanroom/laboratory work and learn new practical skills for a foundation underpinning a career in photonics. You’ll have a solid grounding in physical sciences with an eagerness to understand and solve critical challenges. The projects involve developing functional advanced materials for new optical components and innovative-lasers applications. In these projects you'll have access to: state-of-the-art facilities: access to top-tier resources, cleanrooms, and materials-characterisation suites interdisciplinary research: collaborate with experts within the university and beyond international collaboration: work closely within a cohort of 15 students hosted across Europe working towards a common project goal, including 3-months of placement visits. This role presents an opportunity for a nationally recognised researcher and experienced academic leader to contribute to the continued growth and international reputation of RMIT's aerospace engineering programs. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing research excellence, strengthening industry partnerships, mentoring emerging academics and HDR candidates, and contributing to the strategic development of the Department and School. The Associate Professor will contribute significantly to the teaching and research efforts of the Department of Aerospace Engineering and the School of Engineering.
