We are seeking a team-player who is passionate about innovative technology to play a major role in the leadership, management and expansion of applied research, innovation and knowledge transfer in Tooling. For this post "Tooling" refers to the Assembly & Fixture tooling, Tooling for advanced composite and polymer component processing, Additive Tooling technology and may include cutting tool developments. You will lead and develop a team of engineers, scientists and technicians in the strategic direction and delivery of multiple concurrent Tooling projects across AMIC. Tooling projects will cover managing diverse range of tool manufacturing processes and validation methodologies. You will work in collaboration with different AMIC technology areas, technology providers, national technology centres, academia and industry to deliver key projects, develop regional and international links, and secure partnerships and funding. About the post Essential Criteria: Honours Degree, or equivalent, in related engineering discipline or substantial relevant experience working in a similar role. Substantial relevant experience managing multifaceted industrial-focused tooling research & development projects on time and within budget. Expert proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g. CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, Mastercam) and tooling simulation software for composites with demonstrated ability to integrate digital technologies into tooling design workflows. Evidence of in-depth expertise in tooling design and validation across multiple manufacturing processes (e.g. (e.g. Assembly and fixture tooling across multiple sectors, hard and soft tooling for processes such as RTM, Autoclave Cure and press moulding for composites and injection moulding and rotational moulding for wider polymers, modular tooling systems, rapid tooling, additive manufactured tooling, etc), including correlation between tooling design, process requirements and component performance. Demonstrable experience leading tooling design development, optimisation and implementation across multiple concurrent projects, with evidence of effective technical outcomes through major project delivery, reports, publications, patents or product designs. Strong experience of collaborative working, team leadership and project leadership, including management of cross-functional engineering teams to deliver complex composite manufacturing outcomes. Experience of building networks of industrial and research stakeholders across the UK, Ireland and internationally, with proven ability to secure substantial business partnerships or funding to support composite research activities. Applied knowledge of safety, risk, and regulatory compliance in tooling design and manufacturing environments. Proven ability to work strategically with tooling vendors and cross-functional teams to develop capabilities that meet quality, performance, and delivery standards. Ability to communicate complex technical information to range of audiences through effective written reports and presentations, adjusting approach to meet audience needs. Strong problem-solving skills in a complex industrial environment, with evidence of developing innovative solutions to challenging composite manufacturing problems. Flexibility to work outside of standard working times and undertake national or international travel may be required to meet the responsibilities of the post and needs of stakeholders. Responsibilities: The positions are created and funded as part of the strategic research development initiatives in the Department. The Najumudeen Lab is seeking a highly motivated Lab Manager / Research Technician to join our collaborative and international research team at the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM), University of Helsinki. The lab is also affiliated with the Helsinki Institute of Life Science (HiLIFE). Our research focuses on intestinal stem cells, metabolism, cancer biology, and integrative multi-omics approaches, including spatial omics, transcriptomics, epigenetics, single-cell workflows, and preclinical cancer models. This position is ideal for a person who combines strong hands-on experience in mouse work with excellent organizational skills and enjoys keeping a research laboratory running smoothly. The successful candidate will play a central role in supporting research projects, coordinating daily lab operations, and contributing intellectually to an active research environment.   Key responsibilities   The successful candidate will: 1.    Coordinate day-to-day lab operations, documentation, shared protocols, and general laboratory organization.  2.    Support research projects of lab members, with a strong drive to contribute intellectually. Tasks will include mouse genotyping, mouse management, mouse monitoring, and communication with mouse facility staff. The candidate is expected to understand the experimental design and the underlying reasons for performing each experiment.  3.    Assist with sample logistics for single-cell and multi-omics workflows.  4.    Maintain lab safety documentation, SOPs, equipment records, and onboarding materials for new lab members.  5.    Support administrative tasks for the group leader, including research meetings, purchasing, invoice processing, and financial documentation.  6.    Actively contribute to research discussions, including lab meetings, journal clubs, and project discussions.    Candidate requirements   •    MSc or PhD, preferably, in a relevant field, such as translational medicine, biomedicine, biochemistry, biotechnology, genetics, molecular biology, or a related discipline.  •    Extensive experience in experimental mouse work is required. Existing authorisation to work with mice is required; candidates must be eligible and willing to obtain the required authorisation in Finland. We are seeking an Estates Quantity Surveryor to work in the Estates team, with responsibility for finances across all aspects of Estates.(capital, operational, and commercial). Estates has a capital programme of ~€200m, has an operational budget of ~€9m excluding staff costs and generates commercial income of ~€10m. The post holder will be the main liaison between Estates and the University Finance Office. As the Estates Quantity Surveryor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective budgeting and financial reporting in estates with a focus on public procurement and delivering value for money. The Estates Quantity Surveryor will lead on budget preparation and development of multi annual budgets to take account of capital works, end of life replacements and various minor works. They will liaise with external stakeholders, professional bodies, MU Departments (primarily the Finance Department), professional design teams and produce total project cost budgets (including design team fees and client direct items). They will be involved in procurement (Public), both the setting up of frameworks for services procurement of services and construction works under the capital works management framework (CWMF). The Estates Quantity Surveryor will also be involved in the preparation of various pieces of governance documentation under the infrastructure guidelines (SAR/ PBC, FBC , PCR etc.) The Estates Quantity Surveryor will ensure all estates capital (projects), operational and commercial services are maintained in a continuous state of audit readiness, with robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and full compliance with internal governance and external regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Head of Capital Development or their nominee, the successful candidate will work as part of a team in a busy, challenging environment. The Estates Team provides support to both Maynooth University and our campus partners, St. Patricks College Maynooth (SPCM) across a variety of services and these are cross charged, the Estates Quantity Surveryor will have a key role in these cross charges and the relationship with SPCM. It is expected that the successful candidate will improve and streamline capital, operational and commercial financial reporting and overall compliance with public procurement and POP system (Purchase Order System). They should therefore have a working understanding of the differing challenges of each of these environments. There are standard reports to The Finance Human Resources and Capital Development Committee, Audit and Risk Committee and the Higher Education Authority.
