Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology is sometimes called "Green Heaven" for the proliferation of trees and plant life on its 171 acre campus at Raozan.
It began life as Chittagong Higher Engineering College with 120 students in 1968.
In 1986 it became one of Bangladesh’s four Institutes of Technology, together with colleges in Dhaka, Khulna and Rajshahi, becoming Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology in 2003.
Students are enrolled across faculties of electrical and computer engineering, civil and environmental engineering, manufacting and mechanical engineering, architecture and planning, and science and technology.
All undergraduate courses are taught in English. Courses include architecture, biomedical engineering, civil engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, electronics and telecommunications, materials and metallurgical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics and industrial engineering, petroleum and mineral engineering, urban and regional planning and water resources.
Since 2020 it has run its entrance exam jointly with RUET Rajshahi and KUET Khulna, each attracting around 10 applicants for each place.

Applications are invited for:- Faculty of Social Science Assistant Professor (Ref: 26000004) The Gender Studies Programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is the first programme in gender studies in the tertiary education sector in Hong Kong. It is an interdisciplinary unit based in the Faculty of Social Science, offering Bachelor, MA, MPhil and PhD programmes. The forward-looking team of Gender Studies Programme is inviting applications for the post of Assistant Professor on substantiation (tenure) track to join from the academic year 2026-27 or as soon as possible. The appointee is expected to (a) conduct research and secure research grants; (b) teach courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; (c) supervise students’ theses; and (d) undertake administrative duties. Applicants should possess: (i) a PhD degree by the time of reporting for duty; (ii) relevant research experience in gender/sex/sexuality-related areas; (iii) demonstrated potential/ ability for high quality research; and (iv) a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to excellent research, teaching, and service.
