Founded in 1958 and located in Taichung, a city in central Taiwan, China Medical University (CMU) was the very first non-profit academic institution offering degree programs in Chinese Medicine and Pharmacology in Taiwan. With well-designed, internationally competitive programs and renowned faculty members from all over Taiwan and around the world, the university has steadily grown over time to its present status as one of the foremost medical universities in Taiwan and the Greater China region.

CMU aims to develop traditional Chinese medicine and promote its synthesis with Western medicine. It consists of 8 colleges, which together offer educational, research, and practical programs in Western Medicine, Chinese Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacology, Health Care, Biopharmaceutical and Food Sciences, Public Health, and Humanities and Sciences. Interdisciplinary courses are also available for students that wish to integrate and subsequently broaden their learning experiences. Annually from 2011 to 2017, CMU was awarded the highest subsidy from Taiwan's Ministry of Education's Teaching Excellence Project. With its modern state-of-the-art laboratories, three comprehensive teaching hospitals, and staff who all have a strong commitment to their students, CMU is dedicated to providing excellent opportunities for local and foreign students to get the best education possible so that they can pursue careers in the fields of healthcare and the life sciences.

CMU was ranked 6th among Taiwanese universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2016-2017. Position Overview: We are seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Researcher to join its multidisciplinary research team working at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Metabolomics, and Precision Health. The project aims to leverage AI and machine learning (ML) to analyze complex metabolomics datasets and address key health challenges, including biomarker discovery, disease classification, patient stratification, and personalized therapeutic strategies. The successful candidate will contribute to high-impact research projects focusing on metabolic diseases, cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and microbiome-related health issues by applying advanced AI/ML techniques for biomarker discovery and metabolic network modeling. Scientific Challenges Addressed in the Position: High-dimensionality and complexity of metabolomics data, requiring advanced AI/ML techniques for robust analysis and interpretation. Integration of multi-omics data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics) to achieve systems-level insights into disease mechanisms. Identification and validation of clinically relevant metabolic biomarkers for early disease detection, prognosis, and treatment response monitoring. Reconstruction of metabolic networks and pathway analysis to understand disease-specific metabolic reprogramming. Tackling data sparsity, batch effects, and heterogeneity in clinical metabolomics datasets. Developing explainable AI (XAI) models to facilitate clinical decision support systems (CDSS) and enhance trustworthiness in healthcare settings. Addressing longitudinal and time-series data analysis for monitoring disease progression and treatment outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement AI/ML pipelines for feature selection, dimensionality reduction, and predictive modeling using metabolomics data from clinical studies. Apply deep learning models (e.g., autoencoders, variational autoencoders, graph neural networks) for biomarker discovery, disease classification, and patient stratification. Integrate multi-omics datasets to identify metabolic signatures and elucidate pathway-level alterations associated with disease phenotypes. Perform network-based analysis and reconstruction of metabolic pathways to uncover functional mechanisms underlying health and disease. Contribute to the development of personalized medicine strategies, including precision diagnostics and predictive models for treatment response. Collaborate with experimental teams, clinicians, and biostatisticians to validate computational findings in clinical cohorts. Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences. Mentor graduate students and contribute to building capacity in AI and health data science at UM6P. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field with applications in healthcare and metabolomics. Strong experience in machine learning, deep learning, and AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn). Knowledge of metabolomics data analysis, including LC-MS, NMR data preprocessing, normalization, and feature extraction. Familiarity with multi-omics data integration, biomarker discovery workflows, and metabolic pathway enrichment analysis (e.g., KEGG, HMDB, Reactome). Experience with statistical modeling and multivariate analysis techniques (e.g., PLS-DA, PCA, random forest classifiers). Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and experience with bioinformatics pipelines. A proven track record of scientific publications in metabolomics, AI, or computational biology journals. About the Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering (CBS) The Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering Department (CBS) is a component of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). The main objective of CBS is to set up a distinctive research-teaching program, of international level, to meet the research and teaching challenges of UM6P, on green and environmental chemistry applied to all aspects of chemical sciences: organic and inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical biology, biochemical and thermal reactions. Research at CBS is organized around several major areas, which aim to answer challenging industrial questions, from complex chemical and biochemical reactions to scale-up and validation of process engineering. CBS projects aim at an in-depth understanding of the molecular mechanisms of all transformations to propose new original alternatives in terms of efficiency, environmental friendliness, and sustainability. Job Description We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher specialized in membrane processes, with particular expertise in chemical cleaning and fouling control of reverse osmosis membranes. The selected candidate will contribute to an in-depth study of organic, colloidal, biological, and inorganic fouling mechanisms, the optimization of cleaning protocols (CIP – Cleaning in Place), and the development of sustainable solutions to extend membrane lifespan while maintaining optimal performance. Special attention will be given to evaluating the effectiveness of cleaning agents, their chemical compatibility with membrane materials, and minimizing the environmental impact of cleaning operations. Key Responsibilities: The selected candidate will conduct research on fouling mechanisms in reverse osmosis membranes, including organic, colloidal, biological, and inorganic types. They will be responsible for developing and optimizing effective, sustainable, and chemically compatible cleaning-in-place (CIP) protocols. Particular attention will be given to evaluating cleaning efficiency through performance indicators and advanced characterization techniques. The candidate will also work on proposing environmentally friendly cleaning strategies aimed at reducing chemical usage and extending membrane lifespan. In addition, they will contribute to the design and monitoring of pilot-scale cleaning systems and support the supervision of junior researchers, while actively participating in the dissemination and valorization of research outcomes. Areas of research Thermal processing of minerals pyrometallurgy Job Description The Geology and Sustainable Mining Institute (GSMI) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is seeking applications for an 18-month postdoctoral position in the field of mineral thermal processing and pyrometallurgy. The position is part of strategic, industry-linked research projects funded by the OCP Group.The postdoctoral researcher will focus on the development of innovative high-temperature processes for the transformation, upgrading, or enrichment of mineral resources, particularly those derived from complex or secondary ores. The work will include the study of the thermal and physicochemical properties of minerals, design and execution of thermal treatment experiments (e.g., calcination, roasting, smelting), and optimization of pyrometallurgical flow sheets for the production of value-added materials or metals.The selected candidate will contribute to both fundamental understanding and industrial applications of thermal processing, including product characterization, process design and modeling, and techno-economic evaluation of pyrometallurgical routes. Qualifications Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Metallurgy, Process Engineering, Materials Chemistry, or a related discipline, with a specialization in pyrometallurgy or mineral thermal processing. Strong background in material characterization techniques (e.g., XRD, TGA/DSC, SEM, etc.). Hands-on experience in laboratory-scale thermal treatment using muffle furnaces, tubular reactors, or pilot-scale kilns. Proven ability to conduct independent research, analyze data critically, and communicate results effectively. Excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills in English are required; proficiency in French is a plus. Preferred Qualifications Experience in pyrochimical processing of oxide, sulfide, or silicate ores. Familiarity with thermodynamic simulation software (e.g., FactSage, Thermo-Calc, etc).
