The Role and Department The Institute of Computational Cosmology (ICC) within the Department of Physics manages and operates one of the UK's largest supercomputing facilities, COSMA, on behalf of DiRAC (www.dirac.ac.uk), a UK national facility. This role is primarily responsible for the operation and ongoing development of the COSMA High Performance Computing (HPC) system, supporting innovative research and development projects. In addition to providing expert user support and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to lead both software and hardware initiatives that will help shape the future of UK HPC. The position offers hands-on experience with a broad range of advanced computing technologies, including OpenStack, Ansible, containerization platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes, as well as traditional HPC server administration. Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python are essential for automating workflows and maintaining system efficiency. The successful applicant will work closely with other COSMA support staff and DiRAC technical support teams across the UK to deliver an effective and reliable service for users, including participation in both routine and emergency maintenance activities. The role involves liaising with DiRAC researchers in cosmology and other physical sciences to understand their computational codes and develop expertise in optimizing these codes for efficient execution on supercomputing facilities. There will be opportunities for training and professional development, both within Durham and in collaboration with other DiRAC partners and industry. The successful applicant will also have the chance to attend conferences and HPC events, and will participate in regular meetings with other HPC facilities across the UK. Flexible working arrangements are available, though some in-person attendance is essential due to the nature of the role. Applications for part-time working are also welcome. Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs. Job Requirements A good degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. Track record in project leadership and impactful industry experience in Chemical Process Technology. Deep technical specialist with 10 or more years of working experience in unit operations (e.g. Heat Exchanger, Distillation Column, Reactors, Cooling Tower etc). Practical knowledge of Quality Management Systems and Engineering standards including but not limited to ISO9001, OSHA and BSI etc. Practiced in Chemical Process Design software (for e.g. HYSYS) Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and related methods, with a focus on biopharmaceutical analysis would be an advantage. Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment. Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.

Description The newly established NYUAD Wireless Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate (PDA) to engage in cutting-edge research on channel modeling and characterization for communication and sensing in emerging spectrum for 6G and beyond, with a focus on the FR3, THz and optical frequency bands. This research will be conducted under the joint supervision of Marwa Chafii, and Murat Uysal. Principal Responsibilities The PDA will conduct extensive channel measurement campaigns to provide a comprehensive characterization of the ISAC channel models characterizing the interaction between sensing and communication. The PDA is also expected to contribute to optical channel modeling, particularly for comparative analysis with THz bands, where RF signals exhibit quasi-optical properties. The PDA is expected to actively disseminate results through publications in high-impact journals and presentations at leading international conferences. The PDA is expected to contribute to the intellectual property development through patent filings, as well as participating in standardization efforts relevant to wireless technologies, in coordination with academic and industrial collaborators. Qualifications Applicants must hold a PhD degree in electrical/electronics engineering, telecommunications or related field. Other requirements include Expertise in several areas among the following is desired: radio system modeling, electromagnetics, antennas, propagation, RF frontends, radar. Description The theoretical physics group in the Science Division of New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit an Associate Research Scientist to work on theoretical cosmology including string cosmology and the study of fundamental sources of gravitational waves.
