Job description: As a Senior Lecturer, you will work in the fields of ethics and applied ethics. Your field of work is the scientific teaching of the bachelor's and master's degree programs in philosophy as well as the teachers program in Ethics, as well as in the Master’s program in “Interdisciplinary Ethics.” In these areas, you will regularly teach courses on the basics of philosophical ethics, the history of ethics, as well in special fields of applied ethics. The 32-hour work week includes 11 semester hours (SWS) of academic teaching. The intention to raise working hours to a full-time position (40-hours and 14 semester hours) is much appreciated. Description of tasks: You independently teach 11 semester hours of courses at the bachelor's and master's level. You actively contribute to the (further) development of course and examination formats. We expect ongoing engagement with the current state of research, further training in teaching methodology, and the taking over of research tasks during semester breaks. In addition, administrative tasks, in particular in the administration of teaching, are part of the job profile. This is part of your profile: Completed doctorate/PhD in the field of Philosophical Ethics or Applied Ethics. Several years of independent teaching experience at a post-secondary educational institution. Enthusiasm for passing on knowledge and for university teaching. Applicants should possess a medical degree registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong, a relevant higher academic qualification (e.g. M.D., Ph.D.), a higher qualification in internal medicine, and a specialist qualification in gastroenterology recognized by the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine or its equivalent. They should have proven capacity and potential, and an outstanding track record of active research, including high-impact research output, external competitive grants and research awards; demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in clinical services and training; and have engaged in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. They should also be fluent in Cantonese, Putonghua and English, although teaching, research and professional activities are conducted in English. Preference will be given to those with a track record in research governance, university and hospital administration, and experience in both early- and late-phase clinical trials. The appointee is expected to participate in the planning and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; conduct research in gastroenterology; develop and provide regular clinical services and patient care at the University’s affiliate teaching hospitals; and contribute to administrative duties in the Department, Hospitals and Faculty. The Senior Lecturer (Creative Music Entrepreneurship) plays a key role in advancing teaching, research, and curriculum development in creative music entrepreneurship, cultural leadership, and professional practice. The appointee will help prepare students for diverse and evolving artistic careers by integrating artistic excellence with entrepreneurial thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, and engagement with the wider cultural and creative industries. The appointee will report to the Head of the Academic Studies in Music and work closely with programme leaders and colleagues across the School. Applicants should have: (a) A recognised degree or equivalent qualification (preferably a doctoral degree) in Music, Arts Management, Cultural Leadership, Creative Industries, or a related discipline; (b) A strong professional background and substantial experience in creative music entrepreneurship, cultural leadership, creative industries, or related areas of professional practice; (c) Normally, a minimum of six years’ experience in teaching entrepreneurship, leadership, or contextual studies at tertiary or conservatoire level; (d) A strong professional network within the creative industries, cultural sector, or artistic entrepreneurship landscape, ideally with international reach; (e) A proven record of teaching excellence across undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes; experience with pre-college music education is an advantage; (f) Experience in curriculum design, programme development, and the implementation of innovative pedagogical approaches aligned with contemporary developments in the music and creative sectors; (g) Solid experience in collaborative work across disciplines and cultures, with the ability to contribute to School-wide initiatives and cross-departmental projects; (h) Experience supervising undergraduate and postgraduate independent studies, portfolio projects, research assignments, and creative or professional-practice outputs; (i) Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills; and (j) An excellent command of both written and spoken English.
