The Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) was founded in 1949 as the Central School for Taxation. It changed its name in 1996 when the Ministry of Education took leadership. The university is located in China’s capital, Beijing. The university has 27 schools, including finance, law, business and foreign studies, offering students a plethora of choice. The university offers master's and PhD degree programs, which are taught in either English or Chinese. Students are also offered non-degree programmes such as the Chinese Language Semester Program, which offers high-achieving students from abroad a chance to study at CUFE for a semester with all learning undertaken in Chinese. Students can choose from courses including insurance, international business, urban planning and management, and art management among others. Courses range from two to three years duration. The 1km² university is divided into two campuses: Xeuyuan South Road and Shahe. The campus offers excellent facilities to its staff and students through high-quality labs and libraries. CUFE has so much to offer students, from visits to the Forbidden City, New Year’s parties, and sports meetings. In 2013, the Chinese Corner was set up for international students to improve their Chinese language skills and communicate with other students. Not to mention, students will be living and studying in one of the world’s largest bustling cities. With a population of over 21 million and a rich cultural heritage, Beijing has lots to offer CUFE students. Students are often found enjoying the nightlife in one of Beijing’s many bars, clubs and hutongs. Beijing is a multicultural city, where a mix of cultures and lifestyles combine.

Description The Environmental Genomics Laboratory in the Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks a Junior Research Scientist to investigate the genetic and environmental factors modulating the human immune response during lifestyle transitions in Mongolia. This role is an excellent opportunity for an individual with fieldwork experience in resource-limited settings, robust experimental skills in immunology and microbiome research, and hands-on experience in multi-omics analysis. The successful candidate will implement and execute fieldwork protocols in Mongolia, including biological sample and data collection, perform lab-based multi-omics experiments, and conduct computational analyses using statistical genetics. Additionally, the role involves maintaining lab safety and data security, alongside providing direct supervision and mentorship to undergraduate students, research assistants, and visiting scholars. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. Required qualifications include hands-on experience in field-based and multi-omics research within resource-limited settings, demonstrated experience in multi-omics data generation and analysis, and a track record of publication(s) directly related to the topic of the study. Experience in multi-omics approaches, prior research experience in Mongolia, and experience coordinating international field research are important assets for this project. Description The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering (Civil & Urban Engineering) seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to work on a broader field of geotechnical engineering. Required Qualifications: A successful applicant must have a B.S. in Civil/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with any level of experience, or a Master’s degree and less than 5 years of research experience in the relevant field. Research Project: The successful candidate will assist a research project focused on advancing the design, testing, and analysis of resilient and sustainable geotechnical systems using centrifuge modeling. The work will bridge advanced experimental testing with complementary numerical simulation to generate insights for infrastructure and energy applications. The researcher will be expected to: Assist in design, implementation, and analysis of centrifuge experiments. Integrate findings with numerical models for validation and deeper interpretation.
