Applications are now invited for the following post: Research Assistant Professor Institute of Insurance and Risk Management (Post Ref.: 25/312) Established in 2021, the Institute of Insurance and Risk Management is a department-level, research-focused unit which holds the Lingnan University-Sun Yat-sen University GBA Research Institute for Insurance and a Risk Management (LU-SYSU IRM). The Institute’s goal is to become a leading centre of excellence in research activities and talent trainings for the risk management and insurance industry in Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland, and the Region. The Institute will also contribute to developing Hong Kong as a premier international insurance hub through its academic and practice-oriented research as well as other related activities such as organizing industry-oriented forums, hosting various conferences and symposiums for academics and practitioners, and conducting practice-oriented surveys. The Institute is looking for a Research Assistant Professor, who will primarily focus on conducting scholarly research and obtain external grants, teach undergraduate/ postgraduate courses and contribute to services. General Requirements Candidates should have obtained / been conferred a PhD degree or an equivalent qualification in a Risk and Insurance or related discipline for no more than five years prior to the commencement of the appointment. Ideally, the candidate would have relevant experience in recognized institutions and a sound track record in research, scholarly activities, publications in top-tier journals and competitive grants. Description The SHORES Center at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in the area of Digital Twins and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Smart Infrastructure Management Systems to work under the supervision of Professor Borja García de Soto, director of the S.M.A.R.T. Construction Research Group and Co-PI in the SHORES Center. The successful candidate will also collaborate with researchers and other Investigators from the SHORES Center on project related to the advancement of multidisciplinary research supporting the digitalization of the built environment. The selected researcher will expand the current research in the area of AI- and ML-powered digital twin frameworks for civil, energy, and built-environment infrastructure. These frameworks integrate IoT-enabled sensing and real-time analytics to support continuous monitoring, data-driven evaluation, and predictive maintenance. The work also address user comfort and indoor environmental quality (IEQ) as key dimensions of infrastructure performance. This research forms part of a broader effort to design smart, adaptive, and resilient Infrastructure Management Systems that leverage digitalization, automation, and intelligent decision-making. Key Responsibilities include conduct cutting-edge research on the integration of Digital Twins with AI/ML technologies for infrastructure lifecycle management. Develop and validate computational models for monitoring and predicting infrastructure performance. Collaborate with faculty and researchers across SHORES. Disseminate research findings through high-impact publications and conference presentations. Mentor graduate and undergraduate students involved in related projects. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline with a focus on Digital Twins, AI, ML, or smart infrastructure systems. Strong background in computational modeling, data analytics, and/or automation in construction or infrastructure management. Demonstrated research excellence through peer-reviewed publications. Experience with programming languages and software platforms relevant to Digital Twin development (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Revit, Unity, or IoT frameworks). Description We are inviting applications for a Post-doctoral Associate in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi from individuals who have or will soon receive a PhD in Economics with fields of research in Macroeconomics or Computational Social Science. The appointment is for 2 years and will begin September 1, 2026, subject to final budget approval and visa acquisition by the prospective postdoc candidate. The post-doctoral associate will spend half their time on independent research, and half their time on collaborative research with Professors Alaïs Martin-Baillon, Jordan Norris, and Samreen Malik. The collaborative research will be on macroeconomic expectations, with a focus on firms and the role of networks. An ideal candidate may have experience with surveys and have expertise in computational economics. The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation.
