SIT is expanding its Robotics and Embodied AI (EAI) capabilities, building a cohort of academic staff who are keen and experienced working on industry problems in relevant areas. At SIT, Robotics and Embodied AI faculty will have the opportunity to shape and lead applied research in a unique real-world environment. Located within Punggol Digital District (PDD), SIT’s purpose-built campus serves as a living lab for precinct-scale robotics test-bedding, where faculty can work with government and industry partners to develop, validate and deploy next-generation robotic systems safely and at scale. Candidates will contribute to industry-relevant research in embodied AI, simulation and digital twins, cybersecurity, robot operations and related areas, with a strong emphasis on translation into real-world applications. Through collaborations with leading robot companies and end-users, faculty will help solve practical deployment challenges, build shared digital infrastructure, and train the next generation of robotics talent for Singapore’s future economy.

Responsibilities:


	Lead and contribute to applied research projects with industry partners and government agencies.
	Develop and teach Robotics and Embodied AI courses within the cluster’s programmes and across relevant interdisciplinary modules.
	Supervise Industry Doctorate/Masters and capstone projects in collaboration with domain faculty and industry partners.
	Contribute to SIT’s continuing education offerings.
	Serve as embodied AI mentor for existing SIT domain faculty through joint projects and co-supervision mechanisms.


Qualifications:


	PhD in Robotics, Mechanical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant domain with demonstrated embodied AI research experience. Equivalent industry experience may also be considered.
	Technical expertise and track record in the following areas (ideally at least two):
	
		Policy Learning and Robotics Control: Imitation / reinforcement learning, generative policies, residual learning, cross-embodiment generalisation.
		Robotics Data Engineering: Data capture, synchronisation, calibration, evaluation harnesses and simulation data pipelines
		Foundation Models & World Models for Robotics: VLA grounding, planning interfaces and world-model reasoning for robots
		State Estimation, Perception and Sensor Fusion: 3D scene understanding, diagnostics, active and manipulation-centric perception
		System Integration, Deployment & RobotOps: ROS2 systems integration, runtime robustness, safety and field deployment engineering
		Swarm Robotics & Multi-Agent Systems: Decentralised coordination, shared mapping and resilient communications
		Fleet Management & Remote Operations: Mission control, tele-operation, network resilience and lifecycle operations
		Cyber-Physical Security & Trustworthy Robotics: Threat modelling, resilience, incident response, AI ethics and data privacy
	
	
	Experience applying embodied AI to real-world use areas will be advantageous, such as (non-exhaustive):

Job Purpose

Innovation-as-a-Service Centre for Sustainability Innovation (IaaS CSI) is an ecosystem-level platform helmed by SIT to support innovation projects (from POC test-bedding to implementation) and talent development, thus enabling agencies and enterprises to accelerate innovation for the green economy.

IaaS CSI aims to champion innovation within Singapore innovation ecosystem by bringing together capabilities from Universities, Polytechnics, ITE, Research Institutes, Industry. It is supported by the National Research Foundation (NRF) and staffed by Professional Officers/RE/RF who will link the industry to the research performers.

The Professional Officer (Maritime), POM, with more than 15 years of industry experience, would enhance the performance outcomes of the IaaS CSI. The POM will work with industry partners to co-create commercially viable solutions by co-ideating and co-executing innovation projects. These projects will help the industries and businesses move up the value chain. While working on these projects, POM will have the opportunity to leverage or be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands. The success of these initiatives will bring about deeper collaboration with key industry stakeholders that will translate industry engagement into more innovation projects with SIT and/or the greater innovation ecosystem at large.

The POM for Centre for Sustainability Innovation will play a pivotal role in advancing sustainability-focused research and projects that are relevant to the maritime domain. Collaborating closely with faculty, industry partners, researchers, and students, the POM will co-create impactful, practical, and commercially viable solutions that address critical sustainability challenges, encompassing environmental, social, and economic dimensions.

Key Responsibilities

Applied Research and Innovation


	Lead and manage projects impacting the Maritime ecosystem i.e., vessel owners, port and terminals, fuel supply chain, technology providers, ship managers, policy makers, etc, focussing on sustainability innovation, including but not limited to carbon accounting and management, renewable energy, circular economy, sustainable materials, and carbon reduction technologies.
	Collaborate with other domain in the IaaS CSI to leverage cross functional capabilities to enhance innovation outcomes e.g., Chemicals.
	Support life cycle analysis (LCA), environmental impact assessments, and resource optimization studies to address real-world sustainability challenges.
	Explore emerging technologies, frameworks, and practices to advance sustainable solutions in industries.


Industry Engagement


	Technical professionals who will work with local enterprises to frame projects, identify capabilities needed from the industry ecosystem, IHLs and centers.
	Collaborate with industry partners to co-create sustainable solutions that enhance their operations and align with sustainability goals.
	Foster partnerships with businesses, government agencies, and other stakeholders to develop impactful projects that enhance environmental, social, and economic outcomes.
	Involve in industry engagements, help to bring in higher value-added projects for the centres in SIT, Polytechnics, ITE and other IHLs and RIs.
	Identify emerging trends and opportunities in sustainability to position SIT as a key partner in environmental sustainability innovation.
	Demonstrate thought leadership by speaking at conferences or publishing opinion pieces to promote the mission of IaaS CSI.


Project Management


	Secure funding for research and innovation projects through grant applications and proposals.
	Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of sustainability-related projects, ensuring timely completion and high-quality outcomes.
	Monitor project progress, budgets, and milestones, providing regular updates to stakeholders.


Professional Development and Expertise


	Stay updated with developments in sustainability innovation, including new technologies, regulations, and industry practices.


Job Requirements


	A degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Maritime Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Engineering with sustainability training, or a related field. A Master’s or PhD is preferred.
	At least 15 years of relevant industry experience, with a proven track record in sustainability innovation and ESG integration.
	Representation on National committees e.g., Standards Organisation or Industry Association will be key for industry networks and an added advantage
	Strong knowledge of environmental technologies, resource management, and sustainable business practices.
	Familiarity with relevant sustainability certifications and standards, such as ISO 14044, etc.
	Experience in life cycle analysis, carbon accounting, ESG reporting, and sustainability metrics.
	Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills.
	Possession of relevant industry certifications in sustainability or ESG is an advantage.
	Experience in writing project proposals and grants will be an added advantage.
	Extensive experience and knowledge of industry practices to bring industry perspective to SIT.
	Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems.
	Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment.
	Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.

Description

The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering (Civil & Urban Engineering) seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to work on a broader field of geotechnical engineering.

Required Qualifications:

A successful applicant must have a B.S. in Civil/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with any level of experience, or a Master’s degree and less than 5 years of research experience in the relevant field.

Research Project:

The successful candidate will assist a research project focused on advancing the design, testing, and analysis of resilient and sustainable geotechnical systems using centrifuge modeling. The work will bridge advanced experimental testing with complementary numerical simulation to generate insights for infrastructure and energy applications.

The researcher will be expected to:


	Assist in design, implementation, and analysis of centrifuge experiments.
	Integrate findings with numerical models for validation and deeper interpretation.
	Assist in development of innovative experimental apparatus (SolidWorks proficiency is a plus).
	Disseminate results through high-quality publications in reputable journals.
	Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team of faculty, postdocs, and students.

The Center for Interacting Urban Networks, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to support a set of projects on air pollution and environmental policy in the UAE and globally. These projects include measuring perceptions of and assessing knowledge about air quality, identifying and pursuing strategies to engage with policy makers on environmental issues, and extending efforts in data collection on and public engagement with air quality readings. The successful applicant will contribute to interdisciplinary research centered on these topics.

The qualified candidate will have a Masters in the social sciences and experience working on quantitative analysis. This position requires excellent computational and data management skills.

The University is looking for a Chair Professor in the Wu Jieh Yee School of Interdisciplinary Studies to provide strong academic leadership in both research and teaching, and to contribute to the management and development of the Wu Jieh Yee School of Interdisciplinary Studies. The appointee is expected to have top tier scholarship on sustainability and the environment, and have experience in leading interdisciplinary studies. Specific research areas may include climate change and carbon neutrality, clean energy and energy storage, material genomics and the AI/ML-assisted design of advanced materials, and sustainable environments and infrastructure for AI adoption.
