Full-time, Continuing position Salary Professional HEW 6 ($97,647 - $105,698) + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements Based at the Melbourne CBD campus About the Role The Senior Officer, Student Lifecycle is responsible for providing high quality effective administration, advice and support related to student lifecycle activities and processes across all College of Design and Social Context programs, levels of qualification, modes, and locations. The Senior Officer will work collaboratively and pro-actively with key stakeholders, including professional, academic and teaching staff, to achieve outcomes. The Senior Officer will contribute to the execution of college-based projects that support the college to meet its strategic and operational plans. To be successful in this position, you'll have: Demonstrated experience and expertise in the provision of high-quality administration services, including a sound knowledge of relevant policies and procedures. Southampton Sport operates across several locations, including the newly extended Jubilee Sport & Recreation Centre on Highfield Campus. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. This project focuses on federated causal inference in heterogeneous data environments, addressing the challenge of enabling trustworthy causal analysis across distributed datasets while preserving privacy. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end investigation of novel federated learning strategies for causal inference. The role will bridge rigorous theoretical work with hands-on algorithm design and development on real-world datasets. The core responsibility is to build and validate federated causal inference algorithms through simulations and live demonstrations. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI) to ensure all project deliverables are met. Derivation of novel performance metrics for federated causal inference algorithms. Analysis of causal inference models in federated settings using synthetic and real-world datasets. Design and development of novel federated causal inference algorithms and associated software APIs. Validation of algorithms via simulations and live demonstrations. Job Requirements A Master's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or equivalent. Strong theoretical background in statistics and machine learning. Knowledge of the basics of federated learning and causal inference is highly encouraged. Proven track record in research and development of machine learning algorithms. Proficiency in algorithm development using Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. Key Competencies Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Able to build and maintain strong working relationships with people within and external to the university. Self-directed learner who believes in continuous learning and development. Proficient in technical writing and presentation. Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

The Role and the Department Research and Innovation Services (RIS) provides guidance, expert advice and hands-on support for all aspects of research and research-related work, including securing funding, working with partners, undertaking knowledge exchange, demonstrating impact, commercialising outputs, ensuring good research practice and supporting professional development. This post sits within the Policy, Systems and Performance team in Research & Innovation Services (RIS). You will analyse research data and develop and present reports to key stakeholders You will report to the Senior Manager - Research Systems and Reporting but will work closely with colleagues across the Research and Innovation Services Directorate as well as colleagues in faculties, departments and across professional support services. It is essential that as Research Systems and Information Officer you are highly organised and pay close attention to detail. The capability to prioritise and manage a busy and varied workload is crucial. The ability to work across business-as-usual activities and multiple concurrent projects at different stages of development is essential. This role is suitable for hybrid working. The base location for this role is Boldon House, our exciting new professional services hub.Boldon House is situated on the outskirts of Durham near the Arnison Centre in Pity Me.
