Caspian University

First founded in 1992 as the Kazakhstan Institute of Economics and Law, Caspian University is a private multidisciplinary university based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The institution admitted its first students in 1994 and was granted full university status in 2003. Over more than three decades, it has expanded from its original focus on economics and law into a broader multidisciplinary institution offering programmes from college and undergraduate level through to master’s and doctoral study.

The university operates across two main buildings on Seifullina Avenue and Dostyk Avenue in Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city. Located in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains, Almaty is known for its Russian Orthodox churches, vibrant bazaars and proximity to popular ski resorts.

Caspian University is organised into eight academic schools, including the Adilet Higher School of Law, Higher School of Economics and Management, Higher School of Humanities, Academy of Construction, Architecture and Design, Institute of Engineering, Karina Sarsenova Higher School of Arts, Caspian Business School and Caspian International School of Medicine. Its academic portfolio includes more than 15 bachelor’s degrees, over five master’s programmes and two PhD programmes, covering areas such as law, public administration, finance, clinical psychology, translation, architecture, design, geology, engineering and medicine.

Caspian University places particular emphasis on practical, career-oriented education. Many teaching staff are practitioners, allowing students to learn from professionals with direct experience in their respective fields. 

Sustainability and community support is also reflected in the university’s activities, including its legal clinic, which provides free legal advice, and the Green Logistics Management project, developed in partnership with the European Union.
