Description The Center for Interacting Urban Networks, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to support the project LANDMark on research on land economics, in any of the following areas: Measurement of land prices, with a focus on imputation techniques Land value determinants: public infrastructures (transport, health, and education services) Macroeconomic stability and instability in the presence of land as a fixed, non-produced asset Taxation of land wealth as an alternative to the consumption tax and the capital tax The political economy of land and its taxation Land, fixed resources, and political conflict The successful applicant will contribute to the research centered on any of these themes. The qualified candidate will have a Ph.D. in economics or another quantitative field with no more than five years from receipt of the degree, and an appetite for working on interdisciplinary teams. This position requires: Research experience in the mentioned areas of land (in a broad sense, including housing, macroeconomics, labor, urban, spatial economics, political economy, and conflict). Excellent communication skills in English. About LANDMark (Land Assets, National Development and Markets) This project, developed by Etienne Wasmer, professor of Economics and program head in Economics at NYUAD, and funded for the next 6 years (2027-2032), brings together a group of researchers working on land all over the world. A team of 4 postdocs will constitute the project's core. Associations and collaborative research funding projects with researchers in Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, and Political Science are encouraged. The post-doctoral associate will be hosted in the Social Science Division, near the economics faculty, and can be affiliated with CITIES (infra). Working within a multidisciplinary research team, you will contribute to the delivery of cutting-edge research through a combination of advanced MRI data processing, neuroimaging workflow coordination, and study administration. We are seeking a highly organised and technically capable Research Assistant to support a large MRFF-funded multiple sclerosis imaging study based at the University of Sydney. The role combines advanced neuroimaging data management and MRI pipeline execution with day-to-day study coordination responsibilities. The successful candidate will work with large-scale longitudinal clinical and imaging datasets derived from the MSBase Registry and MSBase Imaging Repository (MSBIR), including extraction and organisation of treatment and MRI timepoint data, coordination of imaging workflows, and execution of MRI preprocessing pipelines to prepare data for downstream lesion analysis. Responsibilities will include image registration, quality control, pipeline management, coordination of data flow across collaborating sites, and assisting with overall study administration and project coordination. The position requires experience working with MRI analysis pipelines and neuroimaging software (e.g. FSL, ANTs, FreeSurfer, MRtrix or similar), strong organisational skills, and the ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary MS neuroimaging research team. The role is expected to involve approximately 80% MRI/data processing work and 20% study coordination activities. Your key responsibilities will be to: Coordinate and support the delivery of a large-scale multiple sclerosis neuroimaging research study, ensuring research activities are completed accurately and within agreed timeframes. Manage and process complex longitudinal clinical and MRI datasets, including data extraction, organisation, quality control, and preparation for downstream analysis. Execute and maintain MRI preprocessing and analysis pipelines, supporting image registration, workflow management, and data integrity across collaborating research sites. Collaborate with researchers, clinicians, and external partners to facilitate study operations, coordinate imaging workflows, and contribute to project objectives and outcomes. Prepare and maintain study documentation, reports, ethics and governance records, research outputs, and other project-related materials in accordance with regulatory and institutional requirements. Support the administrative and operational requirements of the research program, including stakeholder communication, financial processing, compliance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. About you Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field. Demonstrated experience working with MRI analysis pipelines and neuroimaging software such as FSL, ANTs, FreeSurfer, MRtrix, or similar tools, with the ability to manage and process complex imaging datasets. Strong data management, analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience handling large-scale longitudinal research data and maintaining high standards of data quality and accuracy. Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities and work effectively across multidisciplinary research teams and collaborating organisations. Schemes of Service: Research Division: Engineering Employment Type: Fixed Term Role Overview As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in its research pursuits. Our research staff have the opportunity to develop industry-relevant applied research capabilities while contributing to impactful projects that address real-world operational needs. We are seeking a Research Engineer to join an applied research project focused on the development of an embodied AI robotic system for urban infrastructure inspection and maintenance. The project involves the design, integration, and validation of robotic mechanisms, sensing systems, and automated workflows for outdoor infrastructure maintenance applications.The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary research team and industry partners to investigate, prototype, test, and implement practical robotic solutions that can operate in real-world environments and support more efficient, safe, and scalable infrastructure maintenance. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and integrate customised mechanical mechanisms for robotic systems, including robotic end-effectors, grippers, tool-changing interfaces, material handling systems, and task-specific automation modules. Develop 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical documentation using SolidWorks. Perform mechanical design analysis and engineering calculations, including load estimation, actuator sizing, structural integrity, tolerance analysis, and vibration/shock mitigation. Ensure mechanical designs are compatible with robotic arms, mobile platforms, sensors, and mechatronic systems, considering payload, reachability, safety, manufacturability, and maintainability. Build, assemble, and commission mechanical prototypes and experimental robotic systems. Conduct laboratory and field testing, analyse results, troubleshoot issues, and implement design improvements through iterative development. Source and evaluate commercial components, and work with vendors, fabricators, and contractors to support fabrication and assembly. Support field deployments and technology demonstrations with industry partners. Prepare technical reports, design documentation, test reports, risk assessments, and project deliverables. To liaise and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisor. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related discipline. Strong hands-on experience in mechanical design, prototyping, fabrication, and system integration. Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling, assembly design, and engineering documentation. Good understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering analysis.
