Burman University offers a range of bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programmes within its faculty of arts, faculty of science, school of business, and school of education. The college also has an average 11:1 student to professor ratio. There are over 30 clubs on campus that focus on different cultures, hobbies, and interests. These include drama club, theology club, chamber orchestra, Korean cultural club and poets club among others. There are also a range of sports teams including basketball, soccer, volleyball and hockey. The Burman University campus is surrounded by beautiful lakes and is one hour from Calgary.

About you The post holder will be supporting the delivery of school and college events and will build strong relationships with high performing schools. The post holder will also support the delivery of student recruitment events, such as Open Days, Applicant Days and campus tours. In addition, they will assist the wider team in several key recruitment activities such as the creation and management of marketing materials, virtual events, conversion activity and clearing. You will also contribute towards the University meeting its recruitment and admissions targets.  Extensive travel/weekend/evening work will be required as directed by the Student Recruitment Manager.  What you’ll need to succeed: With some previous experience in an administrative role, the successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisation skills and be a confident computer user (word and excel). Description The research group of Prof. Ingyin Zaw at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking to add a Research Scientist in Extragalactic Astronomy to study the impact Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) have on their host galaxies. Applicants with a background analyzing and interpreting astrophysical data, in particular the statistical analysis of data obtained by large surveys, are encouraged to apply. Terms of employment include competitive salary and benefits. Research in the Prof. Zaw’s group focuses AGN activity and feedback which are critical components of current theories of galaxy evolution. Project include collaborations with researchers in Physics program and Center for Astrophysics and Space Science (CASS) at NYU Abu Dhabi, as well as researchers at the Center for Cosmology and Particle Physics (CCPP) at NYU New York. Researchers are NYUAD have access to numerous high performance computing facilities, as well as access to sponsored time on several observing facilitates. Responsibilities of the position include using advanced statistical and Machine Learning techniques to study AGN properties, galaxy properties, and the relationships between them in large samples of galaxies, as well as participating in other research activities of the group. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree, or equivalent, in Physics, Astronomy, Astrophysics or related field, and at least 6 years of research experience (Excluding the years taken to complete their PhD). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience analyzing and interpreting astrophysical data – especially that obtained from larger surveys, and strong computational skills. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience and interest in using advanced statistical / machine learning techniques to study the correlation between variables. A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Plumbing and Heating Technician to join the newly-restructured Maintenance Services team at the University of Surrey. Working as part of a team responsible for the operational maintenance of University premises, you will be undertaking planned and reactive work on Mechanical systems to support the University’s infrastructure and environmental control systems across all our premises, ensuring that they are maintained in a safe, efficient, and functional order. You'll be required to support our current day pattern of 08.00 – 16.12 Monday to Friday. Key Responsibilities include: Maintain all Mechanical systems, including statutory inspection and testing where required, to meet current legislative requirements. Ensure failing plant or assets are reported to the Helpdesk and plant areas are maintained in good condition. Deliver an effective and timely response to maintenance demands across the University in a timely and cost-effective manner. Ensure compliance with all University Health and Safety and Environmental systems and procedures, and take an active part in the development of these policies Ensure the use of equipment and materials in delivery of maintenance services are appropriate and meet current legislative standards. Keep up to date with Mechanical related legislation and developments, attending courses and passing all necessary exams to maintain professional accreditation. Carry out multi-skilled tasks, where relevant, such as (but not restricted to) Electrical isolation and fault finding, minor carpentry, redecoration repairs linked to maintenance work. Complete all administrative work associated with departmental management systems, including the completion of work records, timesheets, stores issues, estimates and health & safety records. Utilise Building Logbook to record all maintenance visits and any relevant defective information and repairs. All defects to be reported immediately to the help desk for further action. You’ll need good planning, organising and prioritising skills, and will be expected to tackle more complex tasks, take on additional responsibilities and communicate effectively at a senior level. The post holder may be required to support out of hours rotas as required by the Service Support Manager to ensure operational effectiveness and business continuity. What’s in it for you?
