It is expected that the Research Assistant/Fellow will work with an increasing degree of autonomy as skills and experience develop. This role focuses on advancing research in two-dimensional materials and ultra-thin material systems, with an emphasis on synthesis, heterostructure integration, and device development for electronic, photonic, and sensing applications. The position involves designing, fabricating, and experimentally validating novel material architectures using advanced nanofabrication and characterization techniques, translating fundamental research into functional prototypes. The successful candidate will produce high-quality research outputs, contribute to competitive funding applications, and effectively communicate findings through publications, reports, and presentations. The role also includes mentoring students, supporting collaborative research initiatives, and engaging with stakeholders. Strong initiative and technical leadership are essential, including the ability to plan and execute research activities, troubleshoot experimental challenges, and maintain laboratory capabilities while ensuring timely delivery of project milestones. We are looking for candidates with their knowledge and experience in the key focus areas: Demonstrated research track record in the area of two-dimensional materials research including characterization and device (electronic and photonic) fabrication/testing   Demonstrated experience with large-area two-dimensional materials synthesis methods such as but not limited to Chemical Vapour deposition Demonstrated ability to experimentally synthesise and characterise ultra-thin materials, heterostructures and electronic/photonic circuits Proven ability to undertake scientific research and development in research programs Demonstrate ability to clearly communicate research results, concepts and knowledge Demonstrated initiative in research, problem solving and competitive grant writing Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a member of a research team and independently when required, to meet project outcomes and milestones Preferable attributes include: Experience in co-supervising postgraduate by research students Qualifications Mandatory: Qualification in the relevant discipline area preferably at postgraduate level. Lecturer (BA (Hons) Music Business) The School of Contemporary Music, within the Faculty of Performing Arts, seeks to appoint a dynamic educator and business-focused researcher to teach the BA (Hons) Music Business programme. The programme is designed to develop commercially focused, analytically rigorous and entrepreneurial graduates equipped to operate within the local, regional and global music economies. The curriculum integrates academic inquiry with industry practice, emphasising market strategy, business model innovation, cultural and creative industries and data-informed decision-making. Reporting to the Programme Leader (BA (Hons) Music Business), your key responsibilities include designing and preparing lectures and seminars, teaching and delivering research-informed and industry-relevant content to ensure that students’ learning objectives are met. You will work collaboratively across the programme and faculty to strengthen curriculum design, align academic standards with industry expectations and support the programme’s growth and strategic positioning. You should have teaching and/or professional experience in music business, entrepreneurship, cultural economics or related disciplines. You will be expected to teach modules that bridge academic frameworks with applied business practice, including market analysis, strategic planning, venture development and performance evaluation. This includes guiding students in using industry tools such as audience analytics, revenue forecasting, intellectual property strategy and digital market positioning. You should be experienced in designing module briefs, constructing scaffolded learning pathways and delivering content that integrates theory with application. A key emphasis of the role is enabling students to translate research into actionable insights, develop viable business strategies, identify market opportunities and critically evaluate the sustainability of creative ventures. You will play a central role in supervising independent research projects, including final-year dissertations, with a strong focus on applied and practice-informed research. You will also contribute to building and maintaining relationships with industry partners, supporting live projects, consultancy-style engagements and opportunities for students to test and validate business ideas in real-world contexts. Your profile should demonstrate a strong research background, with an active portfolio aligned to business-oriented inquiry within the music or creative industries. This may include areas such as market strategy, digital ecosystems, cultural economics, audience development or entrepreneurship. Familiarity with MBA-level frameworks, such as market analysis and business strategy, innovation management and organisational performance, would be an advantage. Industry experience in the music sector, particularly in business development, artist management, rights management, data analytics or commercial strategy, will be an asset.
