Description The Applied Interactive Multimedia laboratory in the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a motivated research or postdoctoral associate to lead the design, development, and validation of material, control systems, and algorithms for next-generation soft haptic actuators and experiences. Note that the research involves significant interactions with collaborators in material science. The developed technologies will be utilized to develop digital twin and soft robot-assisted simulations in the areas of brain machine interaction, wearable haptics, and rehabilitation. The successful applicant will have the following technical experience in: PhD degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Material Engineering (or related field) OR 3-5 years of industry experience (Research and Development). Significant experience in haptic technologies. Hands-on Lab Building and Rapid Prototyping of Novel Proof of Concepts (Extensive on-site lab work). Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Description The Center for Quantum and Topological Systems (CQTS) at New York University (NYU) Abu Dhabi, UAE invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate position, in the area of Quantum Algorithms. The candidate is expected to conduct research in computer science focusing on the combinatorial aspects of quantum experiments and quantum algorithms for computational geometry problems. Prior expertise in these areas is highly encouraged. The selected candidate will work on cutting edge technologies in an excellent research environment, with a potential to work with a Quantum Computer through our collaboration partners. The Center possesses the unique possibility to investigate cutting-edge interdisciplinary questions within the theoretical and fundamental aspects of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science and Engineering, from various points of view and different abstraction levels. The selected candidate will also have great opportunities to work on interdisciplinary research problems with other postdocs of the center. We also expect successful applicants to do cutting-edge interdisciplinary research and work in synergy towards improving the collaborations and connections among the different areas. Ability to work and connect to more than one topic and having interdisciplinary perspective is an advantage, but disciplinary applications will be considered as well having a focus and in depth expertise in a particular topic mentioned above. Applicants should meet the following qualifi cations and possess relevant expertise: A PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field, with specialization in Quantum computing and Graph theory In this role, you will be responsible for conducting research on graph theoretic approaches to design quantum photonic experiments. Additionally, the position involves exploring quantum algorithms for computational geometry problems. The appointment will be for a period of two years, and extensions to longer terms are possible upon review. The terms of employment for these positions include a very competitive salary with additional attractive benefi ts, including generous housing allowance, medical insurance with access to world class facilities, annual home leave allowance, and (if applicable) dependent private school fees. Salaries are tax-free in the UAE (for US tax, the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion can be used). The researchers will have dedicated funds for traveling, computing, publications, etc. and will have access to excellent world-class research facilities. The preferred starting date is Fall 2025, but earlier dates are also possible based on the excellence of the candidate and the processing steps. Description The Robot Learning & Control Lab (REAL Lab) at NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking an outstanding Post-Doctoral Associate to contribute to cutting-edge research in robot intelligence, machine learning, and AI-driven manipulation. This position offers the opportunity to work on real-world robotic systems and develop novel algorithms at the intersection of robot learning, control, and AI for physical systems. The postdoc will work on projects focusing on one or more of the following: Robot Learning & Autonomy – Developing algorithms that allow robots to learn (via exploration or imitation) from interaction, adapt to new tasks, and generalize across environments. Dexterous Manipulation – Advancing robotic grasping, in-hand manipulation, and adaptable object handling in complex real-world scenarios, including those involving deformable objects and uncertain conditions.. Semantic Navigation & Mapping – Designing solutions for robot navigation, for Mobile Manipulators, that integrate environmental semantics and spatial reasoning. AI for Physical Systems – Leveraging machine learning and AI to improve performance, safety, and adaptability of robots, autonomous vehicles, and other intelligent machines. Safe and Certified Control for manipulation: Designing control algorithms that ensure passivity, Lyapunov stability, and safety for human-robot collaboration. Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD in Robotics, Control Engineering, Machine Learning, AI, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. Strong focus on robot manipulation learning & control, and differential geometry is a plus. Knowledge of safe control methods including Lyapunov stability, barrier functions, and certified learning frameworks. Hands-on experience with robotic manipulators (preferebly Franka Emika R3 robots) and real-world experimentation. Demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation, research-oriented thinking, and a drive to operationalize robotic systems for real-world tasks. Strong publication record in top-tier venues: ICRA, IROS, RA-L, T-RO, IJRR, CoRL, NeurIPS, RSS, CDC, TAC. Proficiency in Python, C++, ROS, and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary research environment. Full time, fixed term for two years, located on the Camperdown Campus Opportunity to drive impactful research with real-world applications Base Salary $109,263 - $121,054 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Mathematics and Statistics to work on a project entitled "Data-driven modelling of dynamical systems: A measure transport framework". The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor Tiangang Cui and Professor Georg Gottwald as well as Professor Sebastian Reich on a project at the interface of dynamical systems, measure transport and machine learning on developing a novel mathematical framework for identifying reduced dynamical models of high-dimensional complex multi-scale systems. The project will develop fast, scalable numerical algorithms for extracting the evolution model of the relevant dynamical skeleton, quantifying associated uncertainties. We will develop mathematical theory underpinning the novel methodology, as well as applying it to the development of a data-driven model for climate prediction of the El-Ni o-Southern Oscillation.
