An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced veterinary surgeon (MRCVS) with a passion for inspiring undergraduate students in veterinary medicine. We have a part-time role (0.4 FTE) available for a companion animal vet. Experienced clinicians who wish to move into education and develop their teaching expertise within a multidisciplinary department are encouraged to apply. The primary focus of this role will be to support the clinical teaching in years three and four, preparing our students for their final year rotations. The role involves practical teaching, lectures and tutorials and there will be a requirement to travel to our offsite partners on occasion. Candidates will be appointed at Lecturer A or Lecturer B level depending on experience. For more information see the job profiles below. The full time equivalent salary for this role ranges from £37,694 - £56,535 plus an additional 10% payment for continued RCVS membership. As this is a part time role, the pro rata 0.4 FTE salary (including 10% payment) ranges from £16,585 to £24,875 per annum. Research Technician (Engineering Biology)

The McCarthy Lab has an exciting opportunity for a prospective Research Technician who is interested in synthetic biology approaches to engineer biofilms to better tackle environmental challenges. You will be joining a highly interdisciplinary project, where we will blend synthetic biology, environmental engineering, and biotechnology to develop disruptive solutions to major environmental challenges. Experience with advanced cloning systems, CRISPR tools, metagenomic mining and the use of different biofilm imaging platforms is highly desirable. There will be a particular focus on developing approaches to harness bacterial community behaviours like biofilm formation to better tackle environmental pollutants such as waste plastics. Our aim is to leverage cutting-edge advancements in synthetic biology and biofilm engineering to develop innovative strategies for bioremediation, with a key focus on scalable solutions that can be readily adopted by the waste and water sectors.  This fast-paced project will give the successful candidate the opportunity to develop new skills by working closely with our interdisciplinary team and build their international profile including through research visits to academic collaborators and working with SMEs. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate and efficient data generation, data management, collation and the reporting of results to the project lead. The post-holder will need to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, organisational, team working and communication skills and have a keen interest in drafting research outputs for peer-review publication. The successful applicant will work closely with other researchers within the McCarthy Lab and with other EBIC partners. There will also be opportunities to explore the commercial  Applicants must have a BSc or MSc in a relevant discipline. Experience and knowledge in the field of biofilm formation is essential. Experience in some or all of the following: advanced cloning systems, CRISPR tools, metagenomic mining and the use of different biofilm imaging platforms is highly desirable. About the role LVCPs act as clinical and personal tutors to our final year students, supporting their learning and facilitating their transition to new graduates, whilst also supporting practice-based trained preceptors in the delivery of our distributed model of clinical education.  The distributed model means that you will work to support our students on their rotations at practices across the UK. While students are on placement you will spend a significant amount of time travelling to partner practices to deliver in person support to our students along with time in Guildford to teach students and support examinations.  About you This position would suit someone with experience in production animal practice but additional experience working with other species would be advantageous. We are looking for someone with an intuitive passion for teaching, but prior academic experience is not a prerequisite. We are happy to consider candidates considering a career change into academia. University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit an Associate Professor in Public Health in School of Economics We seek an accomplished public health researcher to serve in a distinctive dual role as a research-focused faculty member and a methodological leader within our Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) laboratory. This individual will drive the development of novel statistical methodologies for evidence synthesis and translation while providing scientific oversight and management for core methodological functions. A central and strategic component of this leadership role is to serve as the primary biostatistical and methodological authority for the UNNC GRADE Centre. The successful candidate will ensure the statistical rigour, innovation, and integrity of all evidence assessments conducted by the centre, directly impacting the development of trusted clinical guidelines and health policies. As this is a senior leadership position, candidates are expected to demonstrate significant relevant leadership experience. As the role also requires regular communication with key stakeholders in China, fluency in both English and Chinese is essential. The UNNC GRADE Centre, which is part of the Cochrane China Network, is a dedicated unit focused on the rigorous evaluation of scientific evidence to inform clinical practice and policy. It specialises in applying the GRADE (Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations) framework to assess the certainty of evidence and strength of recommendations in healthcare. The Centre works closely with national and international bodies to produce transparent, systematic, and trustworthy guidelines. The successful candidate will be offered a fixed term contract until 31 July 2030. Key Responsibilities Methodological Leadership & GRADE Centre Oversight Serve as the chief biostatistical and methodological authority for the UNNC GRADE Centre. Provide expert guidance on complex evidence synthesis, meta-analysis, network meta-analysis, and the application of the GRADE framework to guideline development groups. Research & Innovation Develop and apply novel statistical methodologies for evidence synthesis, evidence translation, and certainty-of-evidence rating. Faculty & Laboratory Duties Contribute to the academic and research culture of the Evidence Based Medicine Lab, including mentoring junior researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and PhD students. Seek and secure external research funding from national and international sources. Engage in appropriate teaching and supervision of graduate-level courses in evidence synthesis, biostatistics, or research methods (as aligned with faculty expectations). About You Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, or equivalent) in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, or a closely related discipline. Demonstrated expertise in evidence synthesis methods, including meta-analysis, network meta-analysis, and handling of complex or real-world data. In-depth knowledge and practical experience with the GRADE framework for assessing certainty of evidence and strength of recommendations. Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications in statistical methodology, evidence synthesis, or clinical epidemiology. Experience providing methodological leadership or consultation for guideline development, health technology assessment, or policy-oriented evidence reviews. Strong collaborative and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplinary and cultural boundaries. Experience working within a Cochrane centre, GRADE working group, or similar evidence synthesis organisation. Record of successful research grant applications as principal investigator or co-investigator. Prior experience in a dual academic/leadership role within a research centre.
