Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, or other cognate disciplines, with at least 5 to 10 years of relevant teaching experience. They must demonstrate proven leadership in course coordination and substantial teaching experience in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, for medical, nursing, pharmacy, and biomedical sciences degree programmes. Applicants should be able to demonstrate adoption of innovative approaches in teaching and learning, a record of driving curricular reform, and/or collaboration across disciplines. Evidence of participation and achievement in educational research, including teaching grants and publications, is essential. Good student feedback is an advantage. Applicants should also be inspiring to students, with clear strategies to foster students’ confidence and competence in critical thinking, analytical reasoning, communication skills, and ethical values. The appointee will be involved in the delivery and leadership of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as mentoring the junior teaching staff in the School. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided. Postdoctoral Researcher in the Optics of Photosynthesis Laboratory

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to strengthen our research portfolio in near-surface remote sensing of sun-induced fluorescence and boreal forest physiology. The Postdoctoral Researcher will be appointed for a fixed-term of two years starting at the latest in August 2026. You will take a leading role in near-surface remote sensing activities in several large national and international research projects at the Optics of Photosynthesis Lab, including PHOCUS (JAES, 2026-2030), MONOCLE (Research Council of Finland, 2022-2027) and FLEX-N, (European Space Agency, starting 2026). The role requires a diverse skillset, key contributions include field tower and drone SIF sensing, 3D radiative transfer canopy modelling and field trips and campaigns. You will also be expected to write high impact scientific publications and contribute to the Cal/Val activities of the future ESA-FLEX mission in Northern latitudes. Develop and apply 3D canopy radiative transfer methods and their integration with photosynthesis modelling, in collaboration with National and International colleagues. Write high impact scientific publications. Contribute to project reporting activities. Contribute to student supervision and teaching (5% of time) in MSc and PhD programmes within the Department of Forest Sciences and the Institute of Atmospheric and Earth System Sciences. Required qualifications and skills PhD in near surface remote sensing or closely related field (e.g., biometereology) (The doctoral degree must be granted before the beginning of employment.) Demonstrated experience in Solar-Induced Fluorescence Familiarity with plant sciences, plant ecophysiology, ecology. Significant field work experience in challenging conditions a driving license that can be easily transferred to Finland Programming experience in at least two of Python, Julia, Matlab, R, Fortran, IDL Desirable experience or assets: Radiative transfer modeling. Knowledge of Finnish language (B1 or B2) Experience in conducting drone-based measurements Experience working at large research infrastructures. What do we offer The Optics of Photosynthesis Laboratory (OPL) is a small and highly international group composed of some 10-15 researchers (https://blogs.helsinki.fi/optics-of-photosynthesis/). Our Laboratory develops methods and theory to facilitate the interpretation of optical data acquired from leaves, plants and entire ecosystems, in terms of plant functional traits such as photosynthesis. We collaborate with a wide range of scientists and communities from molecular biologists to Earth System Scientists, from companies to artists. The salary of the postdoctoral researcher will be based on level 5 of the requirement level chart for teaching and research personnel at the University of Helsinki. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal performance. The starting salary is typically around 3700–4000 euros per month depending on the appointee’s qualifications and experience. A six-month trial period will be applied. The Faculty of Medicine wishes to appoint an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer, hosted by one of the following clinical specialties: Ophthalmology, Respiratory or Paediatrics. The post is intended for an applicant within any of these three specialities, with the speciality of the final (single) post dependent on the successful applicant.  The post-holder will be pursuing their development of research and teaching within the Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton.  In this post-doctoral role, the successful candidate will be in specialist clinical training at ST3 level or above and have substantial experience of the relevant research areas, a proven track record of high-quality original research publications, the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary, multi-professional team and hold a corresponding NTN.  You will join the NIHR Clinical Integrated Academic Training Programme at the University of Southampton, as an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer. The post-holder will also have clinical commitments at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust that will lead to the acquisition of clinical skills required for full registration within the specialty. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. Possessing a Master’s degree, PhD degree and relevant certifications will be an added advantage. Have at least 10 years of clinical nursing experience in healthcare settings. Extensive experience and knowledge of nursing skills and industry practices to bring industry perspectives to SIT. Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems. Experience in research projects and publications will be an added advantage. Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment. Experience in simulation education will be an added advantage. Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possessing industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage (e.g., simulation training) Possession of a good network of relationships with industry partners in hospitals, community, and ILTC sectors will be an added advantage.

Professional or industry certifications such as Cisco (CCNA), Juniper (JNCIA), Huawei (HCNA), Aruba (ACA), or equivalent will be an added advantage. Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of industry experience as a software engineer or network engineer with strong technical expertise and hands-on experience. Proficiency in software development principles, including Object-Oriented Design, Microservices, API integration, and full software development lifecycles. Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, Java (preferred but not limited to). Hands-on experience in enterprise networking, including LAN/WAN design and operations with protocols and technologies such as VLAN, OSPF, ACL, VRF lite, VRRP, VPN, and link aggregation. Familiarity with software for networking devices/functions (routers, switches, firewalls) or network automation / SDN. Understanding of software repository management and/or change management processes for network/software version control. Demonstrated ability to mentor, supervise, or guide students in applied projects or research initiatives. Soft Skills & Mindset Self-starter with a problem-solving mindset and a passion for continuous learning. Ability to work closely with students and researchers to design, implement, and evaluate applied projects. Willingness to explore open-source solutions independently and contribute to collaborative projects with students, researchers, and industry partners.
