About Babcock University

Babcock University has a history that dates back to 1959 when the Adventist College of West Africa was established. In 1999 it was granted full university status and became Babcock University.

The university is named in honour of American missionary, David C. Babcock. Babcock was known for his contribution to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nigeria in 1914.

There are six faculties within the university: computing and engineering sciences, education and humanities, law and security studies, management sciences, public and allied health, and science and technology. Each faculty is divided into different departments, which offer a range of undergraduate degree programmes.

The university is home to two schools, the school of nursing sciences and the Veronica Adeleke school of social sciences. There is also the Benjamin Carson College of Medicine which provides medical education to students.

The College of Postgraduate Studies offers three types of programmes for students seeking to further develop their education: postgraduate diploma, master’s and doctorate degree.

The university is located in Ikenne, a region in Ogun State, southwestern Nigeria.
