Azzaytuna University

Azzaytuna University is a public university in Libya, established in 1986. It was formerly known as Nasser International University. Its colleges are located in the Tarhuna municipality, as well as the Al-Awata and Sidi Al-Sayeh areas.
Azzaytuna offers bachelor’s degrees in a wide range of disciplines including sciences and social sciences, medicine, engineering and law. It also offers some master’s and doctoral degrees. 
It has 19 faculties, with 1,145 academic staff. Many of the core courses are in Arabic, although some contain specialist tracks that include English materials. International students are eligible to apply, though there are currently only a small percentage of international students among student body. 
The university’s main building includes 24 modern lecture halls and eight laboratories, as well as a number of dedicated student spaces and a library with over 40,000 titles.
The university has facilities for students seeking life guidance, with options for academic advice, psychological support and career coaching. 
Social activities include an Annual Festival with art, music, sports competitions and student project exhibitions. There is a Cultural Week with literary and artistic performances, which is produced in collaboration with student clubs and local cultural organisations. There are also opportunities to carry out volunteering work in the wider community, with a focus on health awareness and the environment.

Your personal sphere of influence and academic environment:

The Department of Intercultural Philosophy of Religion at the Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Vienna is seeking to fill a pre-doctoral position 30 hours / limited to 4 years (start date preferably mid October to early November).

In addition to the philosophy of religion, the department’s core research areas include philosophical anthropology and the history of philosophy. The department actively participates in research focused on intercultural, comparative, and global philosophy. Teaching includes introductions to the fundamental disciplines of philosophy, with a special focus on the contributions of religious traditions of thought.

Your future tasks:

You will actively participate in research, teaching, and administration, which means:


	Participating in research projects and scientific studies
	Contributing to publications, scientific articles, and presentations,
	such as conducting literature reviews, proofreading, formatting, and compiling bibliographies
	You are expected to sign a dissertation agreement within 12–18 months
	Participating in and independently conducting courses, where possible, in accordance with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement
	Student advising
	Assisting with the organization of meetings, conferences, and symposia
	Participating in departmental, teaching, and research administration,
	such as helping to maintain the department’s website, providing support for the Moodle e-learning platform, and assisting with exam preparation and administration

About the Role

Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as Assistant Professor.

The appointee is expected to manage on-going research projects on emerging infectious diseases, consistently publish original research articles in high-impact journals and obtain external competitive grants. He/She will also participate in teaching and contribute to the enhancement of medical and healthcare-related courses.

The Student Support Coordinators deliver high quality student support via the University’s one stop shop, the MySurrey Hive, ensuring students receive an exceptional customer focused information service and a memorable and high-level student experience.

The Student Support Coordinators are assigned to students whose queries to the MySurrey Hive are complex / multidisciplinary or because they need a higher level of support due to challenges they are facing. It is the role of the Student Support Coordinator to liaise with all of the individual teams and support services needed to resolve the students issues and provide a single point of contact for the student while this is happening. Student Support Coordinators will operate in an efficient and highly customer-focused manner which will support the retention and success of all students, regardless of their background.

Student Support Coordinators will also work with students identified via Learning Analytics or referred through Personal Tutors and Senior Personal Tutors. They will work closely with students to ensure that they are supported at Surrey, that they belong to the Surrey community and that they are empowered to achieve their potential.
