“Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad has a history that dates back to 1972 with the establishment of the Institute of Sub Engineers in Arad. In 1990 it was granted full university status and was renamed in honour of Aurel Vlaicu, Romania’s celebrated aviation pioneer.

The university is located in Arad, a dynamic city in western Romania renowned for its industrial heritage and strategic position as a gateway between Western and Southeastern Europe. 

Academically, “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad is organised into nine faculties: Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Food Engineering, Tourism and Environmental Protection, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Orthodox Theology, Faculty of Exact Sciences, Faculty of Educational Sciences, Psychology and Social Work, Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, and the Faculty of Design. Together, these faculties offer approximately 40 bachelor’s degrees, 30 master’s degrees and five doctoral fields, all aligned with European academic standards.

The university is also home to the Interdisciplinary School of Doctoral Studies and the “Bishop Ioan Metianu” School, as well as the Teacher Staff Training Department.

Throughout the academic year, the university participates in various Erasmus+ and other exchange programmes, enabling student and faculty mobility.

Description Jaime Napier’s Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a Post-Doctoral Associate to conduct globally-conscious research on gender-related attitudes, gender stereotypes, and/or attitudes and beliefs about sexual orientation. Terms of employment include competitive salary and benefits. Research in our lab focuses on the social and psychological antecedents and consequences of inequality, broadly defined. The ideal candidate for the current position will have a strong background in research on gender and sexual orientation. Some potential projects include: (1) understanding backlash against gender equality and queer rights; (2) understanding the content and structure of gender stereotypes and their consequences; and (3) examining patterns of gender-related attitudes over time and cross-nationally. The position entails involvement in all stages of research, including (but not limited to) study design, data collection, data analysis, manuscript preparation. Candidates must hold a PhD in social psychology or a closely related field, with no more than five years post receipt of the PhD, be competent in research design and advanced statistical analyses, and have strong writing and communication skills. Preferences will be given to candidates who are passionate about gender-related issues and have their own research agenda toward that end. Applications will be accepted immediately. The vacant position as university assistant (praedoc) serves to strengthen our teaching and research portfolio. Description The Haven Lab, in the Division of Engineering and the Center for Cyber Security, New York University Abu Dhabi, invites applications for a Post-doctoral Associate position in security and privacy. The lab's mission is to provide individuals with control over their privacy and protection from digital threats. We want to work towards a future where digital services are inherently designed with user privacy and safety at the forefront. Current research thrusts involve: Large-scale measurements on the web to understand and characterize harmful online phenomena. Development of AI-based countermeasures for security and privacy, especially in on-device settings. Investigation of attacks/defenses on AI-based systems. The Role: Teaching Fellowship in Music Psychology We seek to appoint a talented individual to the role of Teaching Fellow in Music Psychology, tenable from 1 September 2026. You will contribute to high-quality teaching and curriculum development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including the Department's ongoing efforts to address challenges relating to gender equality, race and decolonisation. You will very likely be required to teach the UG Level 2 module "Music and Science" ( ), contribute seminars about Music Psychology within our newly formulated MA module ("Research in Music"), and provide one-to-one supervision of dissertations at both undergraduate and MA level. Description The Shubeita laboratory in the program of Physics, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a post-doctoral research associate to work on unravelling principles that drive cellular organization. The successful applicant will lead research projects to study the interplay between active cytoskeletal transport, cytoskeletal organization, and the physical driving forces of macromolecular crowding. Research will take place within a multidisciplinary group of postdoctoral and predoctoral researchers trained in physics, biology, and chemistry with whom the successful candidate will collaborate closely. Applicants must have a PhD in physics or a related field. Excellent analytical skills are required. Prior experience in the experimental techniques used in the lab such as optical tweezers and quantitative imaging is advantageous but not required. The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children.
