Your personal sphere of play: The research group of Prof. Dr. Ina Bergheim, Molecular Nutritional Science, Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Vienna, is looking for support in human studies focusing on the interaction of nutrition, metabolic liver disease and immune responses. We are an interdisciplinary research team working at the interfaces between nutrition and the development of metabolic diseases as well as healthy aging. We build on a good working atmosphere, close collaboration with our students, self-dependent involvement, and coordination of research projects. Your future tasks: You will be responsible for the conceptualization, co-coordination and co-supervision of studies focusing on the effect of nutrition on the gut-liver axis with a particular emphasis on TLR signaling pathways and immune responses, in humans and cell culture models. Participation in paper writing and publication, independent teaching, as defined by the collective agreement, is expected. Furthermore, you will be expected to supervise students, participate in evaluation measures and quality assurance, and be involved in the department administration, as well as teaching and research administration. Reporting to the MAP Student Advisory Manager within the Maynooth Access Programme (MAP), MAP Student Advisors are based in the Maynooth Access Office as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes outreach and student support professionals, clinical and technical specialists, and administrative staff. While MAP Student Advisors currently report to the MAP Student Advisory Manager, the breadth of engagement with colleagues across the university means that reporting lines can change in line with future organisational/structural reviews and developments as the service expands and develops. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop a demonstration scale low pressure membrane system in collaboration with Atera Water Pte Ltd. Key Responsibilities Applicants are invited for a Research Engineer in low pressure membrane system (LPMS). Reporting to the Project Principal Investigator (PI), you will assist in all administration matters including overseeing, planning, forecasting, budgeting as well as ensuring the smooth running of the daily operations for the project Assists in co-supervision of final year projects (FYP) or capstone projects students or student helpers under the Project PI. Assist in designing, planning and setting up of a demonstration scale LPMS plant at a site allocated by PUB. Assist in designing, planning and setting up of a lab-scale LPMS plant at a SIT Punggol campus Assist in carrying out of experiment, data logging and analysis of data collected. Work with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) results generated by an expert to correlate with experimental data Assists the PI in drafting of reports, conference proceedings and journal articles based on the outcome of the projects. Prepares and shares fortnightly report of results from the computations with the program director and PI. Support the procurement and maintenance of the software/hardware under the charge of the PI Any other adhoc duties assigned. Requirements The appointee should have a strong foundation in fluid dynamics and understanding of fluid (air and water) flow is important. Appointee should also have experience with design of experiments, carrying out experiments and results analysis. Prior experience working with membrane systems will be a plus. A recognised degree from a good University B.Eng or M.Eng in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, chemical or environmental engineering Strong foundation in Fluid Dyanmics Able to work independently with strong data analytical skills, communication, and interpersonal skills.
