Contract type: Permanent Salary: Full time starting salary is normally in the range of £48,760 to £58,664 per annum, with potential progression to £71,050 per annum Apply by: 19/06/2026 About the Role The post holder will lead a small team responsible for post-award research, consultancy and large project accounting for parts of the University. This includes the production and review of invoices and claims, preparation for contract and funder audits, monitoring project progress, identifying variances and risks, and supporting the financial budgeting and forecasting of research, consultancy and large project income and expenditure. A key part of the role will be managing, supporting and developing two team members, ensuring the team provides a professional, customer-focused and proactive service. The post holder will also contribute to continuous improvement across research monitoring, claims and project accounting, including ensuring accurate project set-up and effective use of finance systems and automated processes.  About You You will be a CCAB qualified accountant with significant experience in a complex organisation, preferably Higher Education. You will have experience of monitoring financial performance against budgets, funding agreements or contracts, and will be confident in budget setting, forecasting and variance analysis. Experience of managing or supervising staff is also essential. Part-time Faculty Member in Music Performance (Ref: SCC260612) The Department of Music (DMUS) at BNBU invites applications from learner-centered scholars/practitioners in the field of music to teach voice (popular) to undergraduate students in the Music Performance programme. Qualifications: A Master’s Degree, PhD or DMA in Music Performance or Music Education, specialising in popular and contemporary voice instruction. Successful candidates are expected to be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Preference will be given to candidates who have international teaching experience in a higher education setting. Evidence of success in the organisation and coordination of musical performances is a plus. Candidates should have the ability to: Teach Private Instruction courses and supervise students in popular voice Demonstrate good communication skills in English, both oral and written Keep abreast of regional, national, and international developments and initiatives in music and the music industry. The Role and Department The Life Science Support Unit (LSSU) has had an active role within the research community here at Durham University for around 50 years, and as such it has facilitated numerous research projects across various disciplines. As a major research support facility, it currently houses and supports research and expertise from neuroscience, agritechnology, anthropology, biology, chemistry and ecology, and has been providing both Polyclonal and Monoclonal antibody production services to a range of both academic research groups and commercial partners for 7+ years. The LSSU is a multi-species facility and can provide for both aquatic, rodent and rabbit husbandry. We have a range of housing options available from conventional to IVCs and isolator units, depending upon researcher need and colony requirements. The post holder will have skills and experience in managing a team of technicians; supporting, advising and assisting researchers where appropriate and carrying out roles as a Named Animal Care and Welfare Officer, and Named Training and Competency Officer.The role has a legal obligation under the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 in an animal welfare and ethical capacity and provides a service to internal and external research and companies.
