FACULTY OPENINGS AT THE SINGAPORE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) is Singapore’s first University of Applied Learning, offering industry-relevant degree programmes that prepare its graduates to be work- and future-ready professionals. Targeted to be ready in 2024, SIT’s centralised campus within the larger Punggol Digital District will feature a vibrant learning environment where academia and industry will be tightly integrated with the community. Our faculty work closely with industry on translational research and innovation, as well as provide consultancy on solutions to industry challenges. This well-established nexus with industry endows our graduates with deep skills and work-ready training experience – attuning them to the needs and demands of the future economy. SIT is also establishing strategic live test beds known as ‘Living Labs’ both within and beyond its upcoming Punggol campus to support greater experiential learning and strengthen its applied research offerings. The university’s pool of Engineering experts works with multi-disciplinary teams to drive strategic translational research in key areas such as energy resilience, sustainable infrastructure engineering and maintenance, and maritime engineering. We currently have positions available at all levels, from Lecturer to Full Professor, for the following programmes: Civil Engineering / Mining Engineering: Emerging and disruptive construction technologies / High-performance construction materials with reduced embodied carbon / Tunnel engineering with expertise in design, construction, operation and impact assessment of tunnels  Electrical and Electronics Engineering: Power electronics / Power system analytics / Expertise related to marine / built sector (e.g. electrification of ships or maritime and building energy efficiency) / Digital twinning of electrical / aviation / manufacturing set-ups / Expertise in system design which may include green building design involving passive to active systems or land transport systems  Mechanical Engineering / Material Engineering / Marine Engineering: Transport infrastructure asset management / Domain Expertise in maintenance, operation and modelling of infrastructural assets and systems  Systems Engineering: Competent in data analytics for the power industry or building services / Experience in integrated digital technology such as AR/VR for system maintenance, including electrical power and thermal assets in buildings or shipyard or aviation / Strong background in Infocomm Technology for IoT implementation and integration Successful candidates will join the Engineering (ENG) Cluster (one of five academic clusters in SIT), as members of a team of accomplished experts who are passionate about higher education and deeply involved in industry transformation through applied research programmes. Faculty in the ENG Cluster undertake funded industry-relevant research, teach courses in civil, mining, electrical, mechanical, material, marine and systems engineering as well as supervise graduate industry masters and doctorate students in relevant topics. They are also provided with paid leave to undertake consultancy work with industry and/or spend time attached with industry. We will prioritise collegial and team-spirited candidates with either (a) an earned PhD or equivalent from a reputable university with specialisation in any of the above-mentioned areas and some relevant work experience, or (b) extensive industry experience with demonstrated strong technical expertise in the above-mentioned areas. The Infocomm Technology (ICT) Cluster (Department) The ICT cluster is the largest cluster in SIT in by student intake. Our cluster moulds electronic and computer engineers, computer scientists, AI engineers, interactive media and game development experts, software engineers, and information security specialists. We invite applications for Lecturer and Senior Lecturer positions. This role focuses primarily on teaching and student development, contributing to SIT’s applied learning approach. We welcome passionate educators, preferably having good relevant industry experience, who are committed to nurturing the next generation of professionals in areas such as: Information Security: Mobile security, cyber-physical systems, security analytics, digital forensics, malware analysis, vulnerability assessment, privacy technologies, and AI security. Computer Science and Software Engineering: Software development lifecycle (SDLC), requirement analysis, design, testing, performance optimisation, databases, computer graphics, distributed systems, computer vision, and multimedia analytics. AI and Emerging Fields: Industrial IoT, computational fintech, robot-human interaction, trustworthy AI, explainable AI, large language models, future communications/5G, and quantum computing. Key Responsibilities: Facilitate and conduct all teaching assignments for undergraduate and graduate students and continuous education programmes. Develop teaching materials and applied learning experiences that are relevant to industry needs and practices, and implement modern pedagogies. Mentor and advise students on academic and career development. Supervise student projects and applied learning projects. Contribute to curriculum design, innovation, and continuous programme improvement. Participate in educational initiatives and activities to enhance student learning outcomes. Requirements: A PhD or a Master’s degree (with significant industry experience) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field from a reputable university. A strong passion for teaching and student engagement. A strong interest in student learning and engagement, and keen to adopt flipped classroom methods, team-based learning, and assessment for learning. Demonstrated teaching excellence, or relevant experience in industry-based education and training. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Industry experience or professional certifications relevant to your teaching areas will be an advantage. Familiarity with applied learning, competency-based education, or work-integrated learning will be an advantage. Posting Start Date: 21/04/2026 Schemes of Service: Research Division: Engineering Employment Type: Fixed Term About the Project We are seeking a highly motivated Research Engineer to spearhead a pioneering project involving the integration of a high-precision surveyor tool (Trimble S9 HP total station) onto a dynamic legged robot. This project moves beyond standard mechanical integration, focusing heavily on the software architecture required for seamless, automated operation. The core objective is to architect and develop the robust middleware that facilitates real-time communication between the legged robot's controller and the sophisticated surveying payload. By taking on this role, the successful candidate will master the art of payload integration and middleware development—a highly sought-after skillset that empowers engineers to upgrade, integrate, or automate virtually any tool or sensor payload in their future careers. Key Responsibilities Middleware Development: Architect, build, and maintain the communication middleware bridging the legged robot's control system and the surveyor payload. Systems Integration: Ensure seamless hardware and software integration between the mobile base and the high-precision surveying equipment. Mapping & Navigation: Implement and optimize mapping algorithms and remote control functionalities tailored for a legged platform navigating complex terrains.
