The BRIDGE-AI doctoral network is hiring ambitious doctoral candidates at various locations in Europe (Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Austria). You will be co-supervised by a multidisciplinary team, receiving valuable input from industry, academia, and hospitals alike. All BRIDGE-AI’s doctoral candidates will convene on regular intervals for training events organized in Helsinki (FI), Leuven (BE), Lausanne (CH), Bern (CH), Vienna (AT) and Eindhoven (NL). Access to large collections of clinical neuroimaging data and expert guidance (including through extensive international research visits) for evaluating the true clinical relevance and impact of the AI tools you will be developing. Full-time employment on the BRIDGE-AI project with competitive remuneration for three years. Depending on the host organization, subsequent funding needed to finalize your PhD thesis may be available. Your profile: A MSc degree in physics, computer science, electrical engineering or a similar degree. Candidates who expect to obtain their MSc degree in the near future are also welcome to apply. A strong interest in both new AI method development and the real-world clinical context in which AI methods need to operate. Able to work in an interdisciplinary team and interested in collaborating with clinical partners. A high level of perseverance. Strong programming skills in e.g., Python/NumPy, PyTorch or C++. Excellent communication skills in English (both oral and written). An eagerness to travel within Europe. Other prerequisites: Applicants can be of any nationality, but must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of employment for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before their date of recruitment. We are seeking a Consumer Involvement Lead to play a key role in establishing and delivering the SydneyMSK Consumer Involvement Lab, an exciting pilot initiative designed to embed consumer voices across the research lifecycle. Working closely with the Centre Director, Prof Mandy Nikpour, Centre Manager, Stephanie Beshara, and senior academic leaders, including Prof Claire Ashton-James, you will support the coordination of consumer involvement activities, build meaningful partnerships between researchers and consumers, and contribute to the development of practical tools, resources, and engagement processes that strengthen consumer participation in research. This is a unique opportunity to help shape an emerging initiative with real impact, applying your expertise in consumer engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and project delivery to influence how research is designed, conducted, and translated into better health outcomes. Your key responsibilities will be to: Support the establishment and day-to-day coordination of the Consumer Involvement Lab, working closely with senior academic leaders to embed meaningful consumer involvement across research activities. Develop and implement processes, tools, and practical resources that strengthen consumer participation and support high-quality consumer-researcher partnerships. Coordinate workshops, consultations, training sessions, and other engagement activities that build capability in consumer involvement across research teams and communities. Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including researchers, consumers, and community partners, to support Lab priorities and initiatives. Monitor engagement activities, collect participation and feedback data, and contribute to reporting, evaluation, presentations, and other team-based outputs. Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives and promotes best practice consumer involvement in musculoskeletal research. About you Bachelor's degree or tertiary qualifications in a field that is relevant to health research and consumer engagement and/or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience. Demonstrated experience in consumer and community involvement within health, research, or related settings, with a strong understanding of co-design, participatory approaches, and best practice engagement frameworks. Proven project management, organisation, and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities, monitor budgets and expenditure, and deliver high-quality outcomes with strong attention to detail. Highly developed communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging and collaborating with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including consumer and community partners. Strong written, verbal, and digital communication skills, including the ability to translate complex research concepts into accessible and engaging formats for a broad audience. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and strong analytical and reporting capabilities, with experience evaluating engagement activities, interpreting data, and contributing to reports, presentations, and other scholarly or practice-based outputs. The newly established Finnish Centre of Excellence in Immune – Endothelial Interfaces (IMMENs) is composed of research groups at the University of Helsinki (director Dr. Taija Mäkinen and Dr. Kari Vaahtomeri) and Åbo Akademi University in Turku (Dr. Cecilia Sahlgren and Dr. Guillaume Jacquemet). Here, the IMMENs affiliated research group of Dr. Vaahtomeri, at the University of Helsinki, invites applications for a fixed-term position of POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER Scientific context IMMENs investigates the role of lymphatic vessel endothelium in controlling immune responses. Current evidence shows that much of immune regulation occurs locally at the site of inflammation. Recent studies have revealed important crosstalk between lymphatic endothelium and immune cells, resulting in phenotypic changes that control immune cell trafficking, fate and function. IMMENs will develop novel experimental approaches to uncover the mechanisms and therapeutic potential of lymphatic endothelial immunomodulation in homeostasis, inflammation and tumorigenesis using in vivo genetic mouse models, advanced live and intravital imaging, engineered microchip models, primary cell co-culture systems and novel microscopy and analysis methods. In this context, Vaahtomeri laboratory addresses fundamental cell and vascular biology mechanisms of cell migration/interactions Who are we looking for We are looking for candidates with a strong background in life sciences (for example, cell biology, vascular biology, immunology biochemistry, mouse models, or image analysis). The candidate should be highly motivated to investigate key open questions in the fields of: Cell Biology Vascular biology Immunology At the postdoctoral level, the candidate should have a PhD degree in appropriate biological or medical subject and a demonstrated strong track record of peer-reviewed publications. Previous experience in cell biology, vascular biology, mouse models, immunology or high-end imaging approaches is considered an advantage. The degree requirement must be met by the beginning of the employment. Candidates should be able to demonstrate abstract thinking as well as the potential to develop and pursue scientific projects in the fields relevant for this call.
