Established in 1972, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport is a university operated by the Arab League, which specialises in marine transportation, business, and engineering.

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport offers a wide range of courses within the following faculties: maritime transport and technology, archaeology and cultural heritage, engineering and technology, management and technology, computing and information technology, graduate school of business, international transport and logistics, language and communication, fisheries technology and aquaculture, pharmacy, law, dental medicine and artificial intelligence.

Courses are taught in Arabic, English or French languages.

There are eight separate campuses associated with the university, with two built just in 2019. The Sharjah campus in the United Arab Emirates has student dormitories and plenty of opportunities for students to get involved with activities and events like the Sharjah Book Fair. Seminars and lectures are organised by the cultural activities department in addition to trips and athletic activities.

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport has established relationships with universities around the world, carrying out various exchange activities such as academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation and the opportunity for students to study abroad.

Partner universities include the University of Northampton (United Kingdom).
