We are seeking highly motivated post-doctoral researchers of high calibre to join our research program working in the area of electronic textiles. The role is suited to candidates from either academia or industry, with experience of both is an advantage. The position is funded by the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) project: SUSTAIN - Sustainable heterogenoUs e-textileS for impercepTible humAn INterfaces. SUSTAIN will tackle fundamental challenges across electronic textile-based sensing, wireless, electrochemical and design technologies with a focus on sustainable developments towards practical user-centric e-textile systems. This position is located within WP4 relating to E-textiles and garment design working under the supervision and direction of WP4 lead Dr Marie O’Mahony. You will be based in the Winchester School of Art (WSA) and join an interdisciplinary University of Southampton research team from across Winchester School of Art and the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences and work with collaborators at the University of Glasgow. Details of the project can be found at www.sustain-pg.org. This role will focus on the research and development of knitted textiles for E-textiles/Wearables. To be successful with your application, you will need to demonstrate: A PhD or equivalent in an appropriate area related the role. A strong background in knit for E-textiles/Wearables with an understanding or experience of commercialisation desirable. Over 3 years’ experience in using Shima Seiki knitting equipment including excellent programming skills. Knowledge and experience in fibres, yarns, and textiles. A willingness and ability to support the MSc and PhD students. Excellent communication and organisational skills including writing, workshop and events, and a proven ability to work well within multidisciplinary teams. Te Puna Haumaru - Centre for Security and Crime Science invites applications for a permanent Lecturer in Psychological Criminology. This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging scholar to contribute to research and teaching that improves community safety and reduces crime in Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond. Psychological Criminology at Waikato is a multidisciplinary field focused on the psychology of criminal behaviour, including the development, maintenance, and reduction of involvement in criminal lifestyles and crime events. We are particularly interested in applicants whose expertise aligns with effective crime prevention interventions, restorative and alternative justice approaches, or the treatment and management of people within correctional and criminal justice systems.
