You will lead a two-year fixed term research programme examining the effectiveness of World Rugby’s supplements programme for the prevention of anti-doping in international male and female players. You should be an enthusiastic and highly organised individual who will be expected to take a lead role in all aspects of the programme of work, including: study design; logistical management, the day-to-day running and administration of the research project; quantitative and qualitative data collection and interpretation; communicating with World Rugby’s Anti-doping team, and the production of technical reports and manuscripts for publication. The project team includes Dr Sam Moss, Professor Graeme Close, Professor Craig Twist, Dr Martin Littlewood and Dr Rebecca Murphy. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in the study of reproductive biology and pluripotent stem cells differentiation, especially those specializing in germ cell development. The appointee is expected to demonstrate both independent research capabilities and effective team collaboration; manage on-going research projects on ovarian reconstitution; publish original research articles in high-impact journals; and secure external competitive grants. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Condensed Matter Physics. Experience in numerical techniques and analytical field-theoretical approaches is desirable. Applicants who are in the process of completing a Ph.D. degree will also be considered. The appointee will work with Prof. Zi Yang Meng to conduct research on computational and theoretical condensed matter physics. Areas of research include diagrammatic calculations, quantum Monte Carlo methods, density matrix renormalization group and tensor network states, and artificial intelligence and neural networks, with a particular focus on applying these numerical approaches to quantum many-body systems, such as correlated 2D materials, quantum Moire systems, frustrated magnets, topological order, quantum phase transitions beyond Landau-Ginzburg-Wilson paradigms, etc. The recent works of Prof. Meng and the group can be found at https://quantummc.xyz/publication.
