Alfraganus University is a very young institution – it was established in 2022 in the heart of Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital and the largest city in central Asia. It is named in honour of the 9th-century astronomer Ahmad Al-Fergani, who was born in what is now Uzbekistan.

The university has more than 22,000 students, including international ones from more than 20 countries, who are taught by almost 1,000 professors and teachers. It offers some scholarships and grants to students, including ones for outstanding academic performance. 

The university is organised around eight faculties: economics, philology, pedagogy, social sciences, digital technologies, medicine, physical education and sports, and tourism. The university offers master’s degree programmes in 10 areas.

The Faculty of Medicine offers a comprehensive MBBS programme aligned with international medical education standards. It is delivered in English, making it popular with international students, especially those from India and other south Asian countries. For Indian students, additional benefits include coaching support for India’s Foreign Medical Graduate Examination. The university has a state-of-the-art hospital.

Alfraganus has established partnerships with institutions in some 20 countries to support research exchanges, scholarships and student mobility. Among the partner countries are the US, Turkey, Japan, China and South Korea. Alfraganus operates some joint programmes with Turkish universities.

Master of Fine Art (MFA)* The MFA is a two-year full-time research degree designed for graduates who seek to develop a higher level of specialised knowledge and further their professional expertise and advanced research within their studio practice. Candidates develop an individual research project supported by supervisors relevant to their areas of interest. Doctor of Fine Art (DFA) The three-year DFA degree is a practice-based professional doctorate that provides a platform for integrating professional expertise and scholarly enquiry within the visual arts. This unique offering provides an important alternative to conventional PhD research for practising professionals who are committed to the highest standards of professional practice, academic research and critical enquiry through fine art practice. *NAS is currently phasing out our existing Masters by coursework degree with plans to implement a revised MFA (Research) degree from 2027. The Position The Head of Sculpture is responsible for developing and leading Sculpture curriculum in the BFA course and collaborating with the Head of Postgraduate Studies to support Sculpture in postgraduate courses, including the BFA(Hons), MFA and DFA degrees. The Full-time Head of Sculpture works with the other Heads of Departments and Heads of Programs to deliver academic and research support to students. What you bring to the role The Head of Sculpture provides academic leadership and management of the Sculpture courses, including line management of permanent staff, sessional staff, and technicians. The position manages resource allocation including studios, budget oversight, and management of related learning and teaching materials. Introduction As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.  The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop software platforms for supporting multi-user AR/VR applications. Key Responsibilities Participate in the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake one of the three responsibilities: Develop an interactive metaverse application for online education, team collaboration, and workplace training with a focus on real-time interactive simulation. (app developer) Design, build, and implement a multiplayer architecture and backend services for a real-time AR/VR multiplayer system. (network engineer) Design, build, and implement the the game engine for both client and server. (game engine software engineer) Perform testing Perform documentation and optionally publishing paper to international conferences/journals. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements A degree in Computer Science or relevant field Experience with software development life cycle For app developer role: Strong knowledge in C++ and/or Javascript for 3D/VR applications (e.g., babylon.js, A-Frame, etc.) will be an advantage Experience in developing XR app for teaching & learning/training. Experience developing optimized modules in C#/C++ within Unity and/or Unreal Engine Experience with database management systems For network engineer role: Experience in computer networking, multiplayer architecture, and backend services Experience in connecting backend to various internal and external services and microservices. Deep knowledge in computer network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, and other relevant network protocols). Expertise in handling latency, packet loss, and synchronization issues. Expertise in designing a scalable server architecture for handling thousands to millions of concurrent players, Load balancing, auto-scaling, and server instance management. Expertise in securing a multiplayer game network system. Knowledge of encryption techniques to ensure data in transit remains confidential. Prevention measures against common threats like DDoS attacks, SQL injection, and cheating. Experience in multiplayer game services such as Azure PlayFab, AWS GameLift, Google Cloud Servers, and other similar services. Strong knowledge in C++ will be an advantage. Experience with database management systems Familiarity with core engine technologies such as engine architecture and streaming.
