Established in 1938, Alexandria University in Egypt was originally known as Farouk University and operated as a satellite body of Fuad University (which would later become Cairo University). 

Alexandria University became an independent institution in 1942 and renamed following the Egyptian Revolution of 1952.

Now a public university, Alexandria is home to 150,000 full-time students, making it the second largest university in the country. It also caters for more than 16,000 part-time undergraduates and close to 5,000 international students, with over 8,000 academic staff, over half of whom hold a PhD.

The seven original university faculties comprised Agriculture, Medicine, Arts, Commerce, Engineering, Law and Science, which have grown over the years to its current total of 23. Newer specialisms such as Tourism and Sports Education are included in its structure.

Alumni of Alexandria University include scientists, politicians, film directors and the first Egyptian Nobel Laureate to be recognised in a scientific discipline.

The university’s official colours are white and blue.

Alexandria itself is Egypt’s second largest city, its cultural capital and a major economic centre within the region. Known as the ‘pearl of the Mediterranean’, its coastal location also makes it a tourist hotspot

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:  A good track record of engagement with business and industry.  University-level teaching experience.  Relevant industry experience. Experience in intensive teaching and problem-based learning, and a willingness to be innovative in teaching practices.  An institutional builder, able to work with wider disciplines across the college. Requirements Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in public policy, law, history, or a closely related field on social sciences and humanities. They should have teaching and research experience in any relevant specialism of international and regional organizations, public-private partnerships, and multilateralism to address economic and social policy challenges, especially in the Global South. They should also have a proven track record, or strong potential for research excellence, scholarly publications and securing competitive external funding. He has held key editorial roles, including associate editor of the Journal of Vocational Behavior and currently the Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology. A recipient of a national top talent program, Professor Guan is dedicated to fostering research excellence in China. Dr. Yanze Liang, an Assistant Professor at UNNC, focuses on international business and strategy. His work on internationalization strategies and innovation has been published in leading journals like Journal of World Business. He has secured funding and recognition through provincial and municipal talent programs. This project will make several contributions to existing literature. First, it aims to develop a comprehensive, unified framework that not only unifies disparate conceptualizations of job search success but also unveils previously unexplored dimensions critically relevant to the evolving landscape of career development in the modern era. Second, we it will propose and test a multi-dimensional measure to assess job seekers’ subjective job search success. Its content validity will be substantiated by both qualitative and quantitative studies; its generalizability will be demonstrated by data collected from job seekers across diverse cultural backgrounds and employment status. Third, it will examine the specific effects of these dimensions on predicting job seekers’ subsequent career outcomes, which will enhance the understanding of how the various aspects of job search success collectively and independently influence career sustainability. These findings not only fill a void in the existing literature but also serve as a crucial foundation for the development of more targeted, evidence-based strategies in career management and talent management. Description The Perception and Active Cognition laboratory in the Center for Brain & Health, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on the mechanisms underlying mental processing speed. The successful applicant will drive a fascinating project that links processing speed measures to previously acquired functional and structural MRI data. The project will also involve simultaneously acquired and co-registered fMRI and EEG measurements. Measures of cognitive “Speed of Processing” are important for studies of healthy aging and many disorders, including multiple sclerosis, autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, and schizophrenia, as well as diabetes and obesity. This project investigates the neural correlates of Speed of Processing and its subcomponents, translating into a more complete understanding of the mechanisms involved and their role in brain health. This project combines MRI and EEG/MEG studies with behavioral, genetic, and clinical measures to yield a more complete picture of how processing speed is related to health outcomes.  The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.  Applicants must have a PhD in psychology, cognitive neuroscience or a related field. Strong neuroimaging data processing skills relevant to the project are required. Applicant must have no more than five years post receipt of this degree are eligible for a postdoctoral appointment.
