Al-Qalam University, formerly known as Katsina University, is located in Dutsinma Road, Katsina State, Nigeria. Established in 2005, it holds the distinction of being Nigeria's first private Islamic institution. The university includes six schools/colleges, each offering a range of undergraduate, master's, and PhD programmes accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The College of Humanities provides programmes in Hausa language, Arabic, English language, and Islamic studies. The College of Natural & Applied Sciences offers courses in biological science, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science. The College of Education offers various B.A./Ed programmes in Arabic, Hausa, Islamic studies, English language, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and geography. The College of Social & Management Sciences provides BSc. programmes in accounting, business administration, economics, political science, and sociology, available in both part-time and full-time formats. The College of Post Graduate Studies offers M.A. programmes in Arabic, Islamic studies, English, and MBA, as well as MSc. programmes in accounting, business administration, computer science, economics, mathematics, political science, and sociology. it also offers PhD programmes in various fields. The School of Basic & Remedial Studies offers remedial, IJMB (interim joint matriculation board), and pre-degree programmes to prepare students for their academic journey. Job Description FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES ACADEMY OF WELLNESS AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT Part-time Fieldwork Supervisor in Social Work / Part-time Practicum Supervisor in Social Work (24250153) The Academy invites applications for part-time supervisory roles to mentor and support our students in their professional and practical development. Position 1: Part-time Fieldwork Supervisor in Social Work The appointee is expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate social work students in their fieldwork placements and assist in skills training, and group tutoring for Bachelor of Social Work & Master of Social Sciences in Social Work Programmes. Requirements: A relevant master's degree in Social Work or related discipline; Registered Social Workers (RSW) in Hong Kong; Possess at least five years of post-degree professional experience; Experience in teaching or supervising fieldwork placements, particularly in areas such as elderly care, rehabilitation and family services; and Good proficiency in both spoken and written Chinese and English. Position 2: Part-time Practicum Supervisor in Social Work The appointee is expected to supervise postgraduate counselling students during their practicum placements and assist in skills training, and group tutoring specifically tailored to counselling practice. Appointees may need to work in Mainland settings and travel to Mainland China occasionally. Requirements: A relevant master's degree in Counselling or related discipline; Possess at least five years of post-degree professional practice in counselling; Teaching or practicum supervision experience is essential; and Good proficiency in spoken and written Chinese (including Putonghua/Mandarin) and English. Job Description FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES OFFICE OF DEAN OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES Senior Research Assistant / Research Assistant (25260534) The Office of Dean of Arts and Social Sciences would like to seek proactive and self-driven applicants for the position of Senior Research Assistant or Research Assistant to support research projects that encompass ethnic minorities, older adults, and students in Hong Kong. Responsibilities: Assist in data collection and management of ongoing research projects, including conducting surveys, interviews, and focus groups with students and stakeholders; Conduct literature reviews and contribute to data analysis, including statistical analysis using SPSS; Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials to support project planning, implementation and evaluation; Liaise with schools, NGOs, community organisations, and other stakeholders to facilitate cross-sector collaboration; Engage with South Asian community members to ensure culturally sensitive and effective project delivery; Perform administrative and project management tasks as required; and  Undertake other duties as assigned by the Dean or his delegates. Requirements: A bachelor’s degree or above in Social Sciences, Education, Psychology, Sociology or a related field; Ability to work both independently and as an effective team player; Strong problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail; Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese; proficiency in South Asian languages (e.g., Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Punjabi) is an advantage; Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with SPSS (data management and analysis) and Endnote (reference management); and Experience in project coordination, community engagement, or working with ethnically diverse populations is highly desirable. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and funding availability. Conduct high-impact research in Rheumatology, securing external funding to establish and sustain these programmes.
