The Department has existing strength in Chinese history, Hong Kong history, public history, and global history, along with various subfields such as media, gender, animal, and environmental studies. General Requirements Applicants should hold a PhD in History or a closely related field. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to research and teaching excellence, with an outstanding track record of scholarly publications in internationally leading peer-reviewed journals and major scholarly presses, as well as extensive experience in teaching and course development. The ability to contribute to the Department’s strategic areas—global Asia, public history, or/and digital history—is essential. Experience in digital humanities will be considered an advantage. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position will focus on understanding the ecological roles and potential applications of these microorganisms in agricultural systems, specifically for improving soil health, nutrient cycling, and sustainability. The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge research on how microalgae and cyanobacteria can enhance soil fertility, optimize nutrient availability, and contribute to more sustainable agricultural practices. Job Responsibilities Study the biology, ecology, and physiology of microalgae and cyanobacteria, particularly their role in soil nutrient cycling, nitrogen fixation, and carbon sequestration. Investigate the mechanisms through which these microorganisms interact with soil environments and plants, particularly in relation to enhancing soil fertility, water retention, and microbial diversity. Develop and optimize biofertilizers or biostimulants based on cyanobacteria and microalgae to improve soil health and agricultural productivity. Study the effects of these microorganisms on crop growth, soil nutrient availability, and plant-microbe interactions. Design and execute laboratory, greenhouse, and field experiments to assess the efficacy of microalgae and cyanobacteria in improving soil quality and plant performance. Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and communicate findings through scientific publications. Work closely with researchers from other disciplines, such as microbiology, soil science, and agriculture, to integrate findings into broader agricultural and environmental research efforts. Each capture volume requires a minimum of 16 cameras, and you will collect multiple participants completing a variety of activities of daily living (e.g., walk, jog, run, jump, hop, skip). You will work with Dr’s Rich Foster and Karl Gibbon to collect, process, and share the data that is collected with our industry partners. You will also contribute to research that aligns with the Biomechanics Research Group within the Research Institute.
