Al-Esraa University is a relatively young university offering a range of higher education degree programmes mainly across the fields of health science, engineering, technology. Located in Baghdad, Iraq, Al-Esraa University was established in 2011 with five departments. 

Now, the university has expanded its educational offering to include 21 departments and postgraduate studies. Health science departments include: dentistry, pharmacy, medical laboratory technologies, and physiotherapy. 

As engineering is one of the university’s largest offerings, there is a wide range of departments in this field that include: civil engineering, architecture, roads and bridges engineering, construction engineering and project management, building and construction technologies engineering, computer technology engineering, medical equipment technology engineering, refrigeration and air conditioning technologies engineering, and biomedical engineering. 

The third main field of study and research at Al-Esraa University is technology, offered to undergraduate students through the departments of: dental technology, radiology and ultrasound technologies, and optics technologies. The university also provides courses across sports sciences, financial and banking sciences, interior design, criminal evidence, media, accounting, IT, and English. 

The university has opened many dentistry outpatient clinics and developed modern buildings at Al Andalwus Square downtown.

Salary information $92,603 - $110,407 per year, based on the skills, knowledge and experience you bring to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week), based at our Tauranga campus. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop/produce/investigate a web-based Ship Simulation and Optimisation Software Platform. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: i. Develop naval architecure calculation and ship design tools based on analytical or empirical methods, i.e., stability calculation, resistance and propulsion estimation, weight estimation, etc. ii. Develop a practical parametric model framework for ship and system design. iii. Carry out naval architecture calculations, i.e., stability, resistance, hydrodynamic analysis, etc. iv. Carry out ship hydrodynamic and CFD simulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements Have relevant competence in the areas of naval architecture and ship hydrodynamics. Have a degree in Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering / Ocean Engineering / Other Relevant Engineering Degree. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous. Experience in any programming language will be advantageous. Experience in marine hydrodynamics will be advantageous.
