Al-Bayan University, founded in 2014, is based in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq and one of the largest cities in the Arab world.

The university offers both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees within the following faculties: dentistry, pharmacy, pathological techniques analysis, nursing, law and business administrations.

On campus, students will find laboratories, a library and cafeterias. There are also plenty of gardens and green spaces for students to relax in their spare time.

The university aims to create an environmentally friendly campus and the facilities, faculty and staff all cooperate to make Al-Bayan a green and environmentally friendly university. Cars aren’t allowed inside campus to reduce pollution generated through exhaust, there’s limited paper consumption throughout the departments and the university holds periodic conferences and seminars dealing with environmental pollution problems in Iraq, working on ways to resolve them or reduce them.

To get students involved, the university holds an Environmental Awareness Week, which includes a variety of student activities.

The university publishes a Journal of Al-Bayan University for Studies and Research, which is an annual multidisciplinary academic journal publishing the high quality peer-reviewed research articles in all fields of humanities and sciences from the university.

Al-Bayan University welcomes international students to its campus annually.

Applications are now invited for the following posts: Associate Professor/Assistant Professor Division of Artificial Intelligence (Post Ref.: 25/72) The Division is looking for an experienced Associate Professor/Assistant Professor who will (1) conduct high-quality research in the state-of-the-art areas in artificial intelligence, natural language processing, large language models, and computer vision; (2) secure external competitive research grants in various funding bodies; (3) teach multiple subjects in both undergraduate-level and postgraduate-level programs in data science areas focusing on industrial data sciences, blockchain, data sciences, artificial intelligence, etc.; (4) work on the promotions and admissions as well as the operations for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and (5) contribute to other administrative duties as required by the supervisors. General Requirements Candidates should have (i) a doctoral degree in a relevant data science, computer science, artificial intelligence, information engineering, or other relevant areas; (ii) a strong publication record and outstanding citation counts in the research areas; (iii) experience in applying external grants and teaching relevant courses and relevant programme administrative experience will be advantages; (iv) good command of English and Chinese (including Mandarin). For the post of Associate Professor, six years of relevant experience in the tenure-track academic post should be required. The candidates with less experience will be considered as Assistant Professor. Appointment The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Description The Micro- and Nanoscale Bioengineering Lab (MNBL) at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking to recruit a research assistant to study various human diseases using an organ/organoid-on-a-chip approach. Applicants with a strong background in designing and fabricating microfluidic devices and cell culture are encouraged to apply. Research in the MNBL focuses on designing and fabricating microphysiological systems to study various diseases affecting multiple human organs in vitro. Our project involves collaborations with the faculty of Bioengineering and Biology at NYUAD. Responsibilities of the position include growing cells in organ-on-a-chip microfluidic devices, characterizing them using downstream analysis such as bioimaging and omics analysis, and testing new potential drugs on these cells. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment comprising PhD-level scientists, graduate students, and undergraduate students, thereby acquiring valuable skills in writing manuscripts and establishing collaborations across disciplines. Applicants must hold a B.S. degree in the engineering field. They must also have excellent cell biology expertise; multi-year experience of handling cells with microfluidic devices is essential. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The researcher will be part of the team of the MCCS NATURE Project (https://www.nparks.gov.sg/Cuge/Programmes-Schemes/Research%20Programmes/MCCS%20Programme). The primary role involves developing and validating CFD models to study wave attenuation by mangroves, seagrass, and coral. Responsibilities include calibrating simulations with experimental data, analyzing shear coefficients and drag forces, and contributing to interdisciplinary research on coastal protection, with an emphasis on delivering accurate and impactful modeling insights. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: 1. Wave Stochastic Analysis and Hydrodynamics Conduct advanced stochastic analysis of wave environments to evaluate the performance of floating structures. Analyze hydrodynamic behavior of floating breakwaters under varied sea conditions. 2. CFD and Finite Element Modeling Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to optimize the design and performance of floating breakwaters. Develop finite element models for stability assessment, structural integrity, and dynamic response of floating systems. 3. Connector Design Design and analyze mechanical connectors for the integration of multi-purpose floating breakwater systems, ensuring structural stability and durability. 4. Design and Integration Develop innovative designs for floating breakwaters that integrate wave energy converters (WECs), tidal energy systems, and solar energy platforms. Optimize design configurations to maximize energy harnessing and wave attenuation. 5. Experimental Testing Plan and conduct physical model tests in wave flumes or basins to validate computational models. Analyze experimental data to improve and validate the floating breakwater design. 6. Research Documentation and Dissemination: Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations to disseminate findings to academic and industry stakeholders. Contribute to project proposals and progress updates for funding agencies. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. 7. Project Management Support: Ensure timely execution of project milestones Coordinate with external collaborators and manage data-sharing protocols. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements PhD/Master’s in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field. Proficiency in hydrodynamic modeling tools (e.g., ANSYS AQWA, OrcaFlex) and finite element analysis software (e.g., Abaqus, ANSYS). Experience with stability and mooring system design. Strong analytical skills and familiarity with data collection instruments and techniques. Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
