Description The Teaching and Learning Specialist advances teaching and learning at NYU Abu Dhabi by partnering with faculty, academic staff, and students to design, pilot, and scale evidence-based instructional and assessment practices. Working collaboratively with faculty as disciplinary experts, the Specialist supports innovation through targeted experimentation, evaluation, and refinement of teaching approaches that enhance student engagement and learning in a diverse, global context. Grounded in the mission of a global liberal arts institution, the role contributes to educational practices that cultivate critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and social responsibility, preparing students to navigate and address complex, evolving societal and global challenges. The Teaching and Learning Specialist reports to the Director of the Hilary Ballon Center for Teaching and Learning. The Hilary Ballon Center for Teaching and Learning (HBCTL) partners with faculty, academic staff, and collaborators across NYU Abu Dhabi to advance inclusive, innovative, and evidence-informed teaching that supports student learning, belonging, and success. Through support for faculty innovation in the classroom, interdisciplinary exchange, teaching communities, and the scholarship of teaching and learning, HBCTL fosters reflective teaching practice and advances pedagogical approaches that respond to evolving educational challenges and emerging technologies within a global liberal arts context. Key Responsibilities 1. Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Conduct and apply research on teaching and learning to inform instructional practices and institutional initiatives Translate evidence and data (e.g., student and faculty feedback, surveys, learning analytics metrics) into actionable insights and resources Contribute to the strategic development and dissemination of research-informed teaching practices within and beyond the institution 2. Faculty Partnership & Development Collaborate with faculty and academic staff as disciplinary experts to co-design courses, assignments, and assessments Contribute to faculty development initiatives, including New Faculty Orientation, structured discipline-specific program developed in collaboration with area-specific needs and peer observation programs Support faculty in adopting inclusive, evidence-based, and innovative teaching practices 3. Innovation in Teaching, Learning & AI Co-design and implement pilot projects to explore new approaches to teaching and assessment, including AI-integrated and AI-cognizant practices Support the development and implementation of AI-related guidelines, policies, and faculty support resources Support programs in developing AI-literacy components through integrated assignments Evaluate and scale effective innovations in alignment with institutional priorities 4. Student Partnership & Learning Ecosystem Engage students as partners in teaching and learning initiatives through collaboration with AI student liaisons, student government, and other student groups Design and support mechanisms for gathering student insight (e.g., surveys, focus groups, faculty-student groups, research) to inform instructional practices and institutional priorities Facilitate structured opportunities for faculty to incorporate student perspectives into course design, assessment, and AI-related practices Collaborate closely with relevant units (e.g., Center for Writing,, Academic Resource Center, Student Success) to align student academic support with course expectations and learning goals 5. Cross-Unit Collaboration & Institutional Alignment Coordinate with academic and administrative units (e.g., Academic Technology, Library, Writing Center, Academic Resource Center) to align teaching and learning initiatives Support institution-wide priorities related to curriculum, assessment, and student success Contribute to coherent, integrated approaches across programs and initiatives 6. Description The Center for Interacting Urban Networks, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to support the project LANDMark on research on land economics, in any of the following areas: Measurement of land prices, with a focus on imputation techniques Land value determinants: public infrastructures (transport, health, and education services) Macroeconomic stability and instability in the presence of land as a fixed, non-produced asset Taxation of land wealth as an alternative to the consumption tax and the capital tax The political economy of land and its taxation Land, fixed resources, and political conflict The successful applicant will contribute to the research centered on any of these themes. The qualified candidate will have an MSc or an MA in economics or another quantitative field with no more than five years from receipt of the degree, and an appetite for working on interdisciplinary teams. This position requires: Research experience in the mentioned areas of land (in a broad sense, including housing, macroeconomics, labor, urban, spatial economics, political economy, and conflict). Excellent communication skills in English. Description The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to join this new initiative focusing on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use. The successful applicant will join several fascinating projects on engineering novel approaches to improve the diagnosis and therapy of metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurologic diseases. These projects entail computational modelling, device design and manufacturing, optimization of chemical, mechanical, and electrical characteristics, and preclinical experiments. The candidate will be involved in supporting research efforts, primarily data collection and analysis, as well as project management, training new lab members, purchasing equipment and consumables, and manuscript preparation. This position offers an opportunity to participate in several research projects, depending on experience and willingness to learn. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students. Applicants must have a BS (MS preferred) in an engineering or biomedical-related discipline, with experience in a laboratory setting, and an ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team; with strong organization, communication, problemsolving and time management skills.  Applicants should ideally be willing to work with rodent models including basic handling and surgical techniques. The research will focus on: Agentic AI systems and their governance Physical AI and its integration with real-world systems Measurement and evaluation of agentic AI performance The implications of these technologies for government, industry and the wider public The post holder will design and convene roundtables, workshops and events with senior stakeholders across UK government, regulators, industry, civil society and international partners. They will synthesise findings into white papers, policy briefings and consultation responses, and will represent RAi UK at national and international policy fora. The role may require travel across the UK and internationally. To be successful you will have: A PhD (or equivalent professional experience) in a discipline relevant to responsible AI, including computer science, AI, data science, science and technology studies, law, public policy, ethics, sociology, or political science Demonstrable experience translating technical research into policy-relevant outputs such as white papers, briefings, consultation responses or evidence submissions A strong understanding of contemporary debates in AI governance, evaluation, assurance, agentic AI and/or physical AI Experience designing and convening events or roundtables with senior stakeholders from government, industry and/or civil society Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences Willingness and ability to travel across the UK and internationally to represent RAi UK This post offers significant exposure to senior policymakers, opportunities for visible thought leadership, and the chance to shape national and international conversations on the responsible governance of agentic and physical AI. Applications for the position will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the PhD qualification being awarded, the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
