Université Akli Mohand Oulhadj – Bouira traces its history back to 2001 when it was established as part of the Bougherra Mohammed University of Boumerdes in Bouira. In 2005, it became an independent academic centre with the addition of new specializations in economics, business, and management sciences. The centre attained full university status in 2012 and became Université Akli Mohand Oulhadj – Bouira. 
Situated in Bouira, a city in north-central Algeria, it is known for its role as a market centre for a low-yield olive and cereal-producing area. 
The university comprises six faculties, each housing various departments offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. Additionally, two institutes contribute to the institution's academic offerings. 
The university's Intensive Language Teaching Centre supports language learning, improvement, and retraining courses while overseeing specialized language teaching equipment. 
Research is a significant focus of the university, with innovative projects conducted in various subject areas.

The section for international law and international relations is one of Europe´s leading institutions dealing with core problems of international law. To support the team of Professor Kriebaum, the department is looking for a lawyer, who is interested in international law questions from February 2026. The announcement is made for four years, whereby the employment relationship is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of four years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:


	We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Medicine, Biology or other related disciplines. Interdisciplinary expertise along with experience in conducting collaborative research with clinical scientists or industrial partners would be advantages. Post-doctoral experience in basic/clinical studies and evidence in successful competitive research grant applications are essential. They should be organized, self-motivated, fluent in written and spoken English, and able to work independently as well as in a multi-disciplinary team of orthopaedic engineers, surgeons, and biologists. The appointee will work as an independent investigator tacking musculoskeletal disorders with advanced biotechnology and biomaterials to provide solutions such as biomarkers for precision clinical decision making and potential therapeutic strategies to improve clinical practices.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and professional leave, medical benefits, and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.

The new work group by Prof. Lutz within the research group Workflow Systems and Technology has a broad research focus on topics of business analytics and operations research. The interdisciplinary group aims to develop novel approaches for solving complex decision problems and explaining human behavior in the usage of information technology. For this purpose, the group applies methods from reinforcement learning, explainable AI, natural language processing, and lab experiments. Applications should hence be interested in one or more of the aforementioned topics and/or methods. The particular topics will be determined based on the candidate’s skills and preferences.

Given its interdisciplinary focus, the group collaborates with researchers from both, computer science and business administration. The successful candidate can hence build on a strong network of fellow researchers with a strong knowledge of business analytics and operations research topics.

About the position

This position is for a postdoctoral researcher that will significantly advance research excellence in close collaboration with industry. They will be responsible for leading the research project in Kong research group (Advanced Polymer and Composite Materials Laboratory) in close collaboration with industrial partner, under the MOBIUS umbrella, working closely with other MOBIUS and Kong group postdoctoral researchers and HDR students.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;


	Completion of a PhD in the relevant discipline (chemistry, polymer science, chemical engineering, materials engineering or similar).
	Evidence of experience in research and evaluation, and the ability to work effectively under limited supervision or independently.
	Expertise in bio-adhesives and hydrogels for biomedical applications, polymer chemistry and modification of polymers, mechanical testing of adhesives, biomaterials and polymers, materials characterisation and chemical characterisation of functional polymers (such as FTIR, NMR).
	Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
	Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team in a cooperative and collegial manner.
	A record of contribution to publications, conference papers and/or reports, or professional or technical contributions which provide evidence of research potential.
	A passion for and track record of training the next generation of industry-ready researchers, with some experience in co-supervision.
	Proven ability to meet industry-driven milestones, including producing reports.
	Proven ability to collaborate in research teams and with academia.
