Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs. Job Requirements A good degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related fields. Possessing a Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. Deep technical specialist with 10 or more years of working experience in Electrical/Electronics Engineering environment. Have deep, hands-on competence in the following areas: High voltage switching Engineering design, modelling & analysis of conventional power, wind & solar farms Engineering design of transmission & distribution substations, electrical distribution systems of industries and commercial buildings Power system protection application and relay coordination Digital/Analogue/Power electronics IoT/Micro-controller application It will be advantageous with working knowledge of/as: Knowledge in programming/using Python, MATLAB, LTspice, IoT platform. Authorised high voltage switching Engineer Extensive hands-on experience and knowledge of industry practices and engineering principles to bring industry perspective to SIT Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems. Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment. Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES There will be opportunities for Chinese language lecturer to be involved in a range of different types of delivery, such as: Credit-bearing Chinese language modules from beginners to CEFR B2+ level, and Chinese language modules for Specific Purposes, i.e. Business Chinese. Credit-bearing Chinese content modules for degree students majoring in Teaching Chinese as an International Language and China Studies, i.e. Modern Chinese or Classical Chinese. Additionally, applicants should have a good standard of written and spoken English, as this is the working language of the university. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. This role supports the Future Ship and System Design (FSSD) Programme, which aims to accelerate the decarbonisation and digitalisation of Singapore’s maritime sector. The project focuses on developing planning methods to support the electrification of harbour craft fleets, using real-world operational data to derive charging demand profiles and infrastructure recommendations. As part of this work, we are seeking a Research Fellow to lead the development of a user-friendly GUI tool that will enable stakeholders to interact with planning models and visualise simulation outputs. The RF will also support increasing coordination between different projects as the number of case studies and incoming datasets continues to grow. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop a GUI tool to make model inputs/outputs accessible to end-users Collaborate with project leads and researchers to ensure technical accuracy of the interface Support integration of simulation outputs across Projects 3-1 and 3-2 Manage and process large sets of operational data for case study analysis Contribute expertise in power grid optimisation to enhance planning models Participate in stakeholder engagements and respond to evolving technical needs Job Requirements: A strong background in power systems, energy modelling, or grid optimisation Proficiency in GUI development (e.g. using Python Dash, Tkinter, or web-based frameworks) Experience working with data-driven simulation and model validation in power grids (Ph.D level is mandatory) Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment Prior exposure to maritime or transport-related electrification studies is a plus

The Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for the position of UNIVERSITY LECTURER IN EUROPEAN STUDIES for a fixed-term position from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2030, or as agreed The duties of a University Lecturer include providing teaching in accordance with degree requirements of the degree programmes within the Centre of European Studies (CES), supervising and examining theses, conducting research in their academic field, and contributing to the development of the Centre and to its shared responsibilities. Centre for European Studies (CES) is a multidisciplinary research unit within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki, collaborating with other faculties. The Centre advances research and teaching in European Studies, understood broadly as an interdisciplinary field that examines European societies, their interconnections, and the institutions governing cooperation among them through contemporary and historical perspectives. The Centre serves as a host unit for researchers and projects, organises seminars and conferences, and coordinates the international, interdisciplinary Master’s Programme in European and Nordic Studies (ENS). The appointee will teach and supervise students in the ENS programme and contribute to the Centre’s research-led activities.
