Teaching will be on statistics units for computer science, data science and business students initially. The Department of CS will form an integral part of UWA’s academic community. It will offer various degrees in Computing with subjects across Computer Science, Philosophy and Statistics including software engineering, computer systems, cybersecurity, databases and data engineering, ethics and artificial intelligence, statistics, data science, and the Internet of Things. Staff will also be undertaking impactful world class research.  Statistics is a core disciplinary area within the Department of Computer Science at UWA India, supporting undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across computing, data science and interdisciplinary programs. The discipline focuses on statistical theory, data analysis and quantitative modelling to support evidence-based decision making in scientific, technological and organisational contexts. Teaching integrates statistical foundations with practical application, developing students’ capability to analyse data, interpret results and communicate insights, while emphasising rigour, ethical data use and real-world relevance. Graduates are prepared for further study and careers across data driven industries, research, government and emerging analytical fields. About the opportunity  As an Assistant Professor or Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at UWA India, you will contribute to high quality teaching and learning, develop and disseminate impactful research, and participate in scholarly, service and governance activities that support UWA’s academic mission. At Assistant Professor level, you will deliver approved undergraduate and postgraduate subjects, contribute to curriculum enhancement, develop an emerging research profile with peer reviewed outputs, participate in research funding applications and supervise students where appropriate. At Senior Assistant Professor level, you will make substantial contributions to curriculum and programme design, lead or co lead scholarly and research initiatives, undertake independent and collaborative research that makes original disciplinary contributions, supervise research students, contribute actively to research funding applications and mentor junior staff. About you Assistant Professor A PhD or near completion in Statistics or equivalent academic standing. Demonstrated ability to undertake high-quality research with potential to publish in well-regarded international peer-reviewed journals. Evidence of an emerging research agenda aligned with the discipline. Evidence of effective and engaging teaching at the university level. Capacity to contribute to curriculum development and innovative learning initiatives. Senior Assistant Professor A PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification in Statistics or equivalent academic standing Demonstrated track record of research excellence and sustainable peer-reviewed journal articles publications in top-ranked journals. Demonstrate a strong research track record displaying ability to undertake research and publish in high-quality international peer-reviewed journals. Evidence of success in obtaining, or contributing to, research funding. Demonstrated experience in, or commitment to, supervision or co-supervision of Honours and/or HDR students. Schemes of Service: Research Division: Engineering Employment Type: Fixed Term As a University of Applied Learning, the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) works closely with industry in its research pursuits. This position is situated within the SIT x NVIDIA AI Centre (SNAIC). This role is part of an industry innovation project with a large consumer goods company, where you will develop an evaluation framework for vision-language model (VLM) with applications in the personal care sector. The research focuses on fine-grained VLM capabilities such as spatial reasoning, temporal grounding, event tracking, and domain knowledge using a curated multimodal dataset. Key Responsibilities Manage the research project together with the Principal Investigator (PI) and industry partner to ensure all project deliverables are met Design and implement evaluation frameworks and metrics for vision-language models Develop annotated video datasets and capability-tagged evaluation tasks Build end-to-end evaluation pipelines and failure mode analysis tools to analyze VLM performance across reasoning dimensions Prepare technical reports, publications, and industry-facing deliverables Mentor student assistants Candidates are to communicate with any internal or external parties to ensure project deliverables are met. Research Profile: A distinguished and active record of scholarship and peer-reviewed publications, with demonstrated success in securing significant external research funding or health industry grants. Educational Leadership Experience: Substantial higher education administration experience in a leadership capacity (e.g., Dean, Associate Dean, Department Chair, or Director) within a medical or health professions education environment. Teaching & Mentorship: Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum design, and mentoring students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels across both conventional and digital/blended learning platforms.
