Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University was established in 2018 after a split from another institution.
Students can study across schools of dentistry, health sciences, medicine, nursing and pharmacy. Medical technicians are trained at three vocational schools.
The university's Health Research and Application Centre, which covers a whole range of treatments with particular expertise in physiotherapy, is a 627-bed facility with 1923 staff. It includes the GETAT Centre, which looks at the uses of complementary and traditional forms of medicine. A 100-bed Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Unit is planned.
