The Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences at the University of Helsinki is seeking a Research Infrastructure Manager for diverse tasks related to the coordination and development of technical support for research infrastructure. We offer a responsible and interesting job in a diverse working environment on the Viikki green campus. The Research Infrastructure Manager's responsibilities include developing the faculty's infrastructure based on the faculty's strategy. They will be responsible for the efficient use and maintenance of equipment, sampling, and analyses related to the faculty's research infrastructure, as well as quality assurance and development of these functions. The manager will act as an expert in the procurement of various research equipment for the faculty and will oversee the procurement process for more expensive specialized equipment. The role also includes supervisory responsibilities. Additionally, the Research Infrastructure Manager will coordinate and develop the cost-effective use of the faculty's facilities. They will work closely with the vice-dean responsible for the faculty's infrastructure platforms. Requirements for the applicant: A relevant higher education degree, such as MSc or MA Ability for independent leadership, planning, and development work Good interpersonal and supervisory skills, as well as the ability to collaborate Solution-oriented mindset and organizational skills Proficiency in Finnish (B2) and English (B2) Experience in supervisory roles is an advantage In this role, you will support high-level extensive research and teaching activities. The position offers the opportunity to develop your own expertise in a high-quality international, multidisciplinary work community. The salary for the position is based on the university salary system for non-teaching and non-research staff, at level 10 of the job demand scale. Additionally, a personal performance-based salary component will be paid. The gross salary ranges from €4,408 to €4,940. The position will be filled with a six-month probation period. The Journalism Department at Liverpool John Moores University is seeking an enthusiastic and talented senior lecturer to replace a longstanding team member upon their retirement in August 2026. Our department has a well-established, international reputation for delivering high quality journalism and sports journalism programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. About the Role An exciting opportunity to provide vital support to the Integrative Neuroscience Laboratory Team, perfectly blending technical and administrative duties. A snapshot of the daily tasks the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across include: Assisting with surgical procedures and animal-based recording experiments by preparing sterilized instruments, setting up recording equipment, and monitoring anaesthesia levels under supervision. Preparing and administrating routine drugs in animal models following established research protocols and safety guidelines. Perform routine histological techniques, including brain tissue collection, sectioning (e.g., using a cryostat or microtome), and performing immunohistochemical staining. Operate optical and/or fluorescence microscopes to capture experimental images and collect data in accordance with validated laboratory protocols. Conduct daily clinical health checks and post-operative monitoring of research animals, ensuring all observations are accurately documented in compliance with Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) requirements. About You You are an emerging laboratory assistant who thoroughly enjoys the dynamic of being an active member of a research team. You are passionate about quality, compliance & standardisation in your record management, and has a natural curiosity for all things neuroscience. You will also be able to demonstrate the following: Completion of diploma level qualification with relevant work-related experience; or Certificate IV in a relevant area with relevant/extensive relevant work experience or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Demonstrated routine to general knowledge in the methodologies relating to neuroscience research techniques, including basic animal handling and an understanding of histological processes, and the principles of light and fluorescence microscopy.
