Your personal scope: As a university assistant praedoc at the Department of Economic and Social History, you will do research and teaching in the field of economic history of the 19th and 20th centuries and participate in the research cluster of the faculty and the doctoral school ("Economy and Society from a Historical-Cultural Studies Perspective"). The successful candidate is expected to lead an independent, world-class research programme in the area of cellular organization and dynamics, working at the interface of cell biology, biochemistry and biophysics to tackle cutting edge problems in their field. Example research areas include the spatial, temporal and biophysical organization of cells, gene expression, genome organization, genome plasticity and stability, regulation of cell growth and division, organelle function, membrane biology, membrane-less compartments, intracellular trafficking and transport, and mechanisms of quality control and cellular homeostasis. The new professor will investigate biological systems at the cell, tissue and/or (model) organism level, possibly driving the development of new technologies to probe cellular parameters. Integration of concepts from different fields to develop unified models of cellular function that go beyond correlative observations is desired. The professorship will be embedded in the Department of Biology, which provides complementing expertise in structural biology, functional genomics, systems and computational biology, tissue development and homeostasis, molecular oncology and more. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
