Description The Haven Lab, in the Division of Engineering and the Center for Cyber Security, New York University Abu Dhabi, invites applications for a Post-doctoral Associate position in security and privacy. The lab's mission is to provide individuals with control over their privacy and protection from digital threats. We want to work towards a future where digital services are inherently designed with user privacy and safety at the forefront. Current research thrusts involve: Large-scale measurements on the web to understand and characterize harmful online phenomena. Development of AI-based countermeasures for security and privacy, especially in on-device settings. Investigation of attacks/defenses on AI-based systems. Key Responsibilities: Contribute to driving and developing the lab's research directions and methodologies. Lead and collaborate on high-impact research projects in applied security and privacy. Mentor Ph.D./Master's/Bachelor’s students, providing guidance on research projects. Participate in developing coursework and organizing academic and community outreach events. Engage with academic and industry partners to advance the lab's research goals. Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, with a focus on security, privacy, or applied machine learning, and with less than 5 years post receipt of PhD. Demonstrated research experience in at least one of the lab’s research thrusts. Good programming and analytical skills, and willingness to work with new technologies/systems. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment. You will have experience working in a customer-focused, service delivery environment, ideally within a library, IT or educational setting, along with experience of delivering enquiry services in a digital environment. You should have excellent communication, customer care and team working skills, alongside the ability to manage, motivate and develop staff. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and digital systems is essential, as is the ability to gather and analyse information to support service improvements. You will be confident working both independently and as part of a team, able to problem-solve effectively and maintain high service standards under pressure. Experience of supervising staff, contributing to service development or projects, and an interest in innovation and continuous improvement will be advantageous. The person appointed will have a proven record of teaching, research and publication, appropriate to career stage. They will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching programme of the Department and undertake teaching duties on the Department’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as the supervision of Master’s and PhD students.
