The University of Kent has campuses at Canterbury and Medway, as well as centres in Brussels and Paris. Established in 1960, the university started out in Canterbury and accepted its first students in 1965. Undergraduate, postgraduate, and international courses are offered on a part-time and full-time basis. There’s a broad range of courses from anthropology to economics, film to pharmacy, journalism to art. Students can choose to customise their degree with elective modules, a year abroad, a year in industry and a whole range of extracurricular courses. There’s lots of ways students can get involved with campus life at the University of Kent with everything from sports clubs to music events, societies and seasonal events. The main Canterbury campus is home to six colleges, the library, arts centre and students union. A former naval base, the Medway campus is located close to Rochester and Chatham.

It may be noted that English is the working language and the primary medium of instruction at UM.  The Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Brain Sciences (IAIBS), currently operating as the Institute of Collaborative Innovation and scheduled for formal establishment in August 2026, invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in Data Science. IAIBS aims to become an internationally leading interdisciplinary research institute by advancing deep integration and innovation of artificial intelligence and brain sciences. It aspires to establish itself as a key hub for AI and brain science in the Greater Bay Area and globally. It is expected that high-profile research work will be carried out through these platforms to produce a number of key scientific outputs and discoveries with world influence. Qualifications Prospective applicants should have a PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, or related disciplines, preferably with postdoctoral research experience from globally renowned universities, and a strong record of internationally recognized publications. The following three areas are the main priority categories but are not exhaustive; outstanding candidates in closely related areas of interdisciplinary AI and data science are also encouraged to apply: (1) AI for Science, including AI/ML for scientific discovery, foundation models for science, scientific machine learning, and AI applications in materials, chemistry, biology, healthcare, simulation, or hypothesis generation; (2) AI for Society, including AI and data science for smart cities, public health, education, sustainability, social good, human-centered AI, decision support, computational social science, or AI agents for public services; and (3) AI Governance, including responsible and trustworthy AI, AI safety, fairness, accountability, transparency, privacy, security, regulatory compliance, auditing, risk assessment, AI ethics, and data governance. Priority will be given to candidates with strong research experience and demonstrable societal, scientific, or institutional impact. The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in 2026. Remuneration A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,250,200 (approximately USD154,350) for the position of Full Professor, MOP1,052,800 (approximately USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions. The School of Ocean and Earth Science at the University of Southampton is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow in Phanerozoic Ocean Biogeochemistry and Earth System Evolution. The successful applicant will work on the development and application of the cGENIE Earth system model for the NERC Pushing the Frontiers project “Determining extinction correlates on geological timescales”, under the supervision of institutional lead Dr. Richard Stockey and in collaboration with team members at the University of Oxford (Project Lead Prof. Erin Saupe) and the University of Leeds (Project Co-Lead Prof. Ben Mills). The post holder will specifically work to generate a series of reconstructive models of 3D ocean biogeochemistry through the Phanerozoic (last ~540 million years). A key focus of this role is to explore uncertainty in three-dimensional ocean biogeochemistry over this time interval and its implications for geochemical proxy records and marine ecosystems. This is a relatively short-term, specialist Earth system modelling position (15-month duration). The post holder is therefore expected to have prior experience in intermediate complexity Earth system modelling and experience integrating key components of Earth system evolution on these timescales, or a strong track record in developing and deploying new skills in computational Earth Science research. The successful candidate will either hold, or be nearing completion of, a relevant PhD/DPhil and will have appropriate research experience alongside strong subject-specific expertise. They should be capable of working independently within established research programmes, managing their own research activities and contributing to academic publications. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to present research ideas and findings clearly, as well as representing the research group effectively in meetings and collaborative discussions.
