Established in 1990, Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) is a public university in Barcelona, Spain, the country’s Catalan capital.

The university’s main strengths are its Social Sciences and Humanities, Health and Life Sciences and Communication and ICT.
UPF was commissioned by the Catalan Parliament to train young professionals and to improve Spain’s contributions to global research.
The university is named for the linguist Pompeu Fabra, an expert on the Catalan language, credited with standardising this once-disused language and revising it, giving it the status it holds today. Catalan is the official language of UPF. Students wishing to learn Catalan tongue will have plenty of opportunity in Barcelona and around Pompeu Fabra.
Barcelona is a vibrant city and one of the top tourist spots in Europe, with its blue ocean, sandy beaches, museums, fashionable shops and Gaudi architecture. Gaudi’s masterpiece, the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia, dominates the city’s northern skyline.
UPF has three campuses around the city. Social and Human Sciences are studied at Ciutadella, Health and Life Sciences at Mar and Communication and Information Technologies at Poblenou.

Description We are inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi from individuals who have or will soon receive a PhD in demography, epidemiology, public health, or a related discipline in the social sciences. The appointment will begin September 1, 2026, subject to final budget approval and is available for up to three years. The post-doctoral associate will spend half their time on independent research, and half their time on collaborative research with Professor Stéphane Helleringer. The collaborative research will be on population health and its determinants in low-and-middle-income countries, with an emphasis on measurement issues and the impact of crises such as epidemics and disasters. The job entails conducting high-quality research on population health and its determinants in low-and-middle-income countries. This includes conceptualizing research questions, designing empirical studies, collecting or acquiring new data sets, and analyzing these data using advanced statistical models and visualization techniques. The job also emphasizes the dissemination of knowledge about population health, particularly through the preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts, software packages and/or participation in international conferences. Candidates must hold a PhD in demography, epidemiology, public health or related discipline in the social sciences. The ideal candidate is preferred to have prior experience with data collection and collaboration in low-and-middle-income countries and good knowledge of R or other software for data management, analysis and visualization. The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation. You would join a group of over 20 post-doctoral fellows and 70 faculty in the Division of Social Science. The Faculty of Arts, University of Helsinki, invites applications for the position of UNIVERSITY LECTURER OF THEORETICAL PHILOSOPHY for a fixed-term position 1.8.2026-31.12.2031 (or starting as agreed). The position includes a six-month trial period and is located at the Department of Philosophy, History and Art Studies. The applicant is expected to have in-depth expertise in the field of knowledge theory as well as sufficient expertise in teaching other core fields of theoretical philosophy (particularly metaphysics and philosophy of mind) in both the bachelor’s and master’s programmes. Expertise in the philosophy of language is considered an asset. The appointee’s teaching duties include lecture courses and master’s seminars related to the theory of knowledge and other core fields of theoretical philosophy. The assignment also includes the planning of new courses. Successful completion of the duties associated with the position requires, in particular, good interaction and cooperation skills. The university lecturer will actively contribute to degree programme development and teaching planning in collaboration with colleagues at the department and degree programmes. Broad-based expertise in film and television studies and versatile teaching skills, as well as collaboration with other disciplines in art studies, are considered an asset. Requirements for the position and assessment of qualifications According to the Regulations of the University of Helsinki, appointees to university lectureships must hold an applicable doctoral degree and have the ability to provide high-quality research-based teaching and supervise theses (usually prepared in Finnish). The selected applicant must demonstrate evidence of independent post-doctoral research as well as sufficient teaching experience suited to the position. When assessing the qualifications of applicants, attention will be paid to scholarly publications and other research results of scholarly value, teaching experience and pedagogical training, the ability to produce learning materials, other teaching merits and, if necessary, a teaching demonstration. Pursuant to the Government Decree on Universities (770/2009), appointees to teaching and research positions at the University must be proficient in the language in which they provide instruction, i.e., Finnish or Swedish. The language of instruction in the present position is Finnish. To successfully attend to the duties of the position, the appointee must also have satisfactory skills in Swedish and good skills in English. Applicants from a different language background or who have not been educated in Finnish or Swedish may be exempted from the requirement for Swedish skills without a separate application.
