Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will support the research and implementation of a longitudinal study of early childhood development in Hong Kong as well as the preparation of research proposals under the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences. Additionally, the appointee will contribute to the preparation of research proposals and contribute to other research projects of the Social Sciences Research Centre (SSRC: https://www.socsc.hku.hk/ssrc/people/) in the Faculty of Social Sciences. Key responsibilities include: Collecting, cleaning, and analysing research data under supervision, ensuring accuracy, quality and integrity throughout the process. Preparing comprehensive technical reports detailing research methods, findings, and implications. Developing manuscripts for submission to high-impact academic journals and presenting research findings at conferences and research institutions to disseminate results. Assisting in the development and drafting of research grant proposals to secure funding and support. Supervise and co-supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as junior research support staff. Performing any other research duties as assigned to support the success of projects. Requirements Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree or an equivalent qualification in sociology or a closely related social sciences discipline. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities: Excellent written and spoken proficiency in both English and Chinese. Strong quantitative research skills within sociology or social sciences, demonstrated through relevant experience or coursework. Proficiency in statistical software such as Stata, R, or other relevant tools to facilitate data analysis and interpretation. Experience or interest in conducting research on topics related to child and youth development, family studies, education, and physical and psychological health disparities. Experience in data collection projects is preferred. An exciting opportunity is available for a talented qualitative researcher to join a successful team in the Primary Care Research Centre to conduct qualitative research and intervention planning for a primary care practitioner intervention to support autistic/ADHD/AuDHD adults with mental health problems The post is available under the supervision of Dr Hannah Bowers in close collaboration with the wider MINDS study team. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for conducting qualitative interviews with primary care practitioners, analysing qualitative data and conducting stakeholder and lived experience workshops. The role will also include planning an intervention using the Person-Based Approach. There will be opportunities to contribute to other elements of the research subject to capacity and competencies. Applicants will have experience of conducting qualitative research. You will also have experience of working collaboratively with diverse teams. Successful applicants will have demonstrated their ability to work independently and efficiently in a research context and will have excellent written English skills with meticulous attention to detail. Your knowledge and experience will usually have been gained through a relevant PhD, but may also have been achieved via other research experience, normally supported by a relevant postgraduate degree. The post is fixed term until 30/04/2027 and will be offered at 0.8 FTE from September 2026. Other FTEs will be considered on a case-by-case basis. A Standard Level DBS is required for this role. Your personal sphere of influence: As university assistant and doctoral student, you work in the Spatial Sustainability and Digitalization Transformation Hub (SSDT Hub) led by Yvonne Franz who is also the director of study program at the department. It aims to advance academic knowledge and debates on spatial thinking and a critical understanding of spatialized social transformation processes. The Department of Biology (www.biol.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned tenured professorship at the Institute of Biochemistry (IBC; www.bc.biol.ethz.ch). The successful candidate is expected to lead an independent, world-class research programme in the area of cellular organization and dynamics, working at the interface of cell biology, biochemistry and biophysics to tackle cutting edge problems in their field. Example research areas include the spatial, temporal and biophysical organization of cells, gene expression, genome organization, genome plasticity and stability, regulation of cell growth and division, organelle function, membrane biology, membrane-less compartments, intracellular trafficking and transport, and mechanisms of quality control and cellular homeostasis. The new professor will investigate biological systems at the cell, tissue and/or (model) organism level, possibly driving the development of new technologies to probe cellular parameters. Integration of concepts from different fields to develop unified models of cellular function that go beyond correlative observations is desired. The professorship will be embedded in the Department of Biology, which provides complementing expertise in structural biology, functional genomics, systems and computational biology, tissue development and homeostasis, molecular oncology and more. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
