Located in Pamplona, the University of Navarra is one of Spain’s most prestigious universities with a distinguished record in teaching and research.  a private non-for-profit university with a strong Catholic ethos.

The private non-for-profit university was founded in 1952 by the founder of Opus Dei, Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, to transmit the movement’s values, and now has around 11,000 students, of whom some 8,700 are undergraduates, across four main campuses across the north-east Spanish city.

Initially starting as a law school, it now has 14 faculties, two university schools, 17 institutes, a business school and other centres and institutions. The university offers more than 120 degrees, but all courses include theology.

Navarra also organizes a wide range of activities open to all members of the academic community who are keen to learn about Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church or receive pastoral care from the chaplains in a context of religious freedom.

The university also runs a teaching hospital, where around 2,000 qualified professionals handle more than 100,000 patients each year, as well as carrying out world-leading medical research focused on four main areas - oncology, neuroscience, cardiovascular sciences, and gene therapy and hepatology.

Among its famous alumni are Leonardo Polo, a distinguished philosopher, physicist Pedro Miguel Etxenique and former UK transport secretary Ruth Kelly.

Its mission is broadly defined the search for truth; contribution to the academic, cultural and personal education of its students; the promotion academic research and healthcare activities and providing suitable opportunities for the development of its staff – all with a culture of outreach with a clear goal of service.

Description The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to recruit a postdoctoral research associate to join this new initiative focusing on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use. CENTMED oversees a variety of exciting projects developing new treatments and diagnostics for cardiovascular, neurologic, and metabolic diseases. The successful applicant will join a number of fascinating projects on engineering novel approaches to modulate physiology and neural activity in the brain, gastrointestinal (GI) tract, and other peripheral organs. These projects have a high potential for translation towards treating a variety of neurologic and metabolic disorders. These approaches entail device design and manufacturing, drug conjugation, neuroscience, and preclinical model experiments. The candidate will work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment alongside PhD-level engineers and scientists, graduate students, and full-time researchers. They will also have the chance to contribute to other projects within CENTMED, working on cutting-edge initiatives spanning metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurologic diseases. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on next-generation surgical technologies, bridging the gap between engineering innovation and clinical application. Applicants must have a PhD in an engineering or biomedical-related field. Excellent experimental skills relevant to the project (in particular device design and fabrication, drug conjugation, and in vitro and in vivo experimentation) are required. Proficiency in English is required. The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is seeking to appoint a motivated individual to join the Medical Programme Professional Service Team. The post holder will work closely with the Senior Administrative Officer and Medical Programme Manager to support them in delivering assessment and progression processes and for the School of Medicine’s Graduate Medicine programme. The role This role will focus on managing and implementing processes in relation to all aspects of student assessment and ensuring accurate records and data are managed and in line with University and GMC regulations. The postholder is expected to build a knowledge of the systems and processes involved in order to meet expectations for recording and tracking student progress. About you The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate strong technical and IT skills with a focus on reporting data and supporting the development of bespoke systems aimed at monitoring and recording student data. They should be a proactive individual, competent in the use of IT with an attitude open to change and working independently. The ability to work to a high level of accuracy is also essential.  The role will require excellent interpersonal and organisational ability demonstrating adaptability and flexibility with regards to changing workloads and priorities. The role will involve working with a range of staff across the School of Medicine and wider university and to adapt and support a number of professional administrative activities involved in the BMBS Graduate Medicine programme.
