Newcastle University traces its origins back to the School of Medicine and Surgery, established in 1834. Since this time, we've been pursuing ambitious goals, continuously striving to expand our understanding of the world.  Through innovation and creativity, we’ve pushed the boundaries of knowledge, fostering a culture of excellence and leadership. Nestled at the heart of the Northeast of England the University boasts over 185 undergraduate degrees and more than  270 postgraduate degrees to choose from.

Teaching is 5-star (QS Stars 2025), and students are inspired and encouraged to grow academically by world-class experts and top academics. As a research-intensive university, Newcastle’s pioneering research feeds into degrees so students learn at the cutting-edge of their discipline.

Students’ learning will also be supported by specialist subject facilities, including:

  • high specification labs and clinical skills suites
  • studios and rehearsal spaces
  • on-campus museum and art gallery
  • two commercial farms and a biological field station
  • a sea-going research vessel, coastal station and marine lab

Outside of the lecture theatre Newcastle University houses over 60 different sports clubsso there’s no shortage of opportunities for students to challenge themselves and make new friends. In fact, the University has invested £30 million into state-of-the-art sports facilities. 

Newcastle University invests millions of pounds in financial support for students based on academic excellence, sporting achievement, personal or financial circumstances.

Each year we offer thousands of scholarships to eligible UG and PG students. These scholarships ensure that talented students have access to a world-class education, no matter their financial background. In addition to the new sports facilities, students can also choose from over 160 different societieto get involved in at Newcastle University Students’ Union.

Our inclusive student body spans campuses in Newcastle, Singapore and Malaysia. With a 29,000-strong student community drawn from over 135 countries.

Newcastle University is seeking two outstanding, values-driven leaders to take up the role of Director of Faculty Operations (DoFO) one within the Faculty of Medical Sciences and one within the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering. These are pivotal senior roles, providing strategic leadership for Professional Services across two of the University’s three academic faculties and contributing to the delivery of Newcastle University’s ambitions under Next Generation Newcastle. The Role Reporting directly to the respective Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellor, with a dotted line to the Registrar, you will lead and integrate professional services across the Faculty Office, Schools and Institutes, ensuring high-quality, efficient and student-centred support for education, research and external engagement. As a member of the Faculty Executive Board and the University’s senior Professional Services leadership community, you will play a key role in shaping Faculty and University strategy, driving transformation, and strengthening alignment between Faculty and University-wide services. The Faculties Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMS) is internationally recognised for excellence in medical research, education and clinical partnerships, with strong links to the NHS and global activity including the University’s campus in Malaysia (NUMed). Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering (SAgE) is a major centre of research and innovation across engineering, computing, agriculture and the sciences, with strong industry partnerships and a focus on addressing global challenges. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership for Faculty professional services, ensuring exceptional service delivery and alignment with University priorities  Lead change, transformation and continuous improvement, including digital innovation  Oversee Faculty planning, performance, risk, budgets and workforce strategy  Build strong partnerships across the University and represent the Faculty on University-wide committees and initiatives  Promote a positive, inclusive culture where colleagues can thrive and perform at their best  You will be an experienced senior leader with a strong track record of leading complex professional services operations, delivering large-scale change, and working in partnership with academic leaders. You will bring strategic insight, financial and organisational acumen, and a collaborative, values-led leadership style.
