Established in 1855 as the Federal Polytechnic School, a century and a half later ETH Zurich is now considered among some of the world's most prestigious universities in science and technology.

The institute has produced over 20 Nobel Prize Laureates, including the father of modern physics and the inventor of the general theory of relativity Albert Einstein.

The university, commonly known as Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich or Poly for short, has based its success on Swiss traditions of cherishing fundamental principles of freedom, individual responsibility, entrepreneurial spirit and open-minded approach to education. It remains a European research pioneer, which tries to offer practical solutions, which address worldwide challenges.

With 16 departments that conduct solid academic interdisciplinary research in subjects ranging from architecture and biology to chemistry and physics, the university makes a notable contribution to the global science and technology industry.

The Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Brain Sciences (IAIBS), currently operating as the Institute of Collaborative Innovation and scheduled for formal establishment in August 2026, invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in Human Computer Interaction. IAIBS aims to become an internationally leading interdisciplinary research institute by advancing deep integration and innovation of artificial intelligence and brain sciences. It aspires to establish itself as a key hub for AI and brain science in the Greater Bay Area and globally. IAIBS consists of four research platforms: neuroimaging (3T MAGNETOM Prisma fMRI/fNIRS/EEG/MEG) core lab, brain intervention (TMS/tDCS/laser or ultrasound modulation) core lab, behavior data collection core lab and high performance computing core lab. It is expected that high-profile research work will be carried out through these platforms to produce a number of key scientific outputs and discoveries with world influence. Qualifications Prospective applicants should specialize in human computer interaction, cognitive neuroscience, emotional AI, or the interface of brain sciences and AI in general, and should possess a PhD and/or MD-PhD with extensive experiences in related fields. Preference will be given to candidates with advanced expertise and in-depth knowledge of neuroimaging and brain intervention. The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in 2026. Remuneration A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,250,200 (approximately USD154,350) for the position of Full Professor, MOP1,052,800 (approximately USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
