Founded in 1398, Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) is Korea’s oldest and one of its most prestigious institutions of higher education. Rooted in Sungkyunkwan, the highest national academy of the Joseon Dynasty, SKKU has shaped Korea’s intellectual and cultural development for over 628 years. Today, it combines this rich heritage with cutting-edge innovation as a globally recognized, research-intensive university across its Seoul and Suwon campuses. A university open to the world

SKKU welcomes the world through a network of global partnerships with leading universities, and supports international students every step of the way through the Office of International Student Services. Our short-term Summer Program and Winter Program invite visiting students into a season of cultural learning and academic adventure in Korea. Alongside them, the Sungkyun Language Institute (SLI) carries the Korean language beyond borders.
